Tasks and duties
- Managing paperwork associated with contracts, programs and projects and responding to any concerns or queries.
- Supervising and managing work (and variations to work orders) undertaken by contractors.
- Liaising with subcontractors, material suppliers, trades, project managers and engineers to ensure that goals and schedules are met.
How to become a Contracts Administrator
Your path to becoming a Contracts Administrator will depend on the industry you want to work in. For example, Contracts Administrator roles in the construction industry may require a qualification in building and construction or engineering. However, Contracts Administrators in non-construction roles may require business or legal training.
- 1.Complete a Certificate IV in Building Project Support (Contract Administration) (CPC40320). This VET course is designed to meet the needs of Contracts Administrators working in small to medium-sized businesses in the construction industry.
- 2.Consider improving your employability by completing a degree relevant to your chosen field, such as a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Honours), Bachelor of Construction Management or Bachelor of Law.
- 3.Seek an internship while studying to gain industry experience alongside professional Contracts Administrators.
