How to become a Forensic Scientist
To work as a Forensic Scientist in Australia a degree-level qualification in forensic science is usually required. These are typically bachelor degrees with honours and entry usually requires prerequisites in English, mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology.
- 1.Undertake a bachelor degree in forensic science. This may be a Bachelor of Forensic Science. An honours degree or higher qualification is highly regarded by some employers.
- 2.Consider specialising in a particular area, such as ballistics and firearms, fingerprints, crime scene reconstruction or bloodstain pattern analysis. Additional study, such as a Masters in Forensic Medicine, can also further your career as a forensic scientist.
