Warehouse Workers receive, handle and store goods in warehouses, and prepare goods for dispatch from warehouses. They check and label stock, and report damage or discrepancies.
Tasks and duties
- Unload trucks and receive goods.
- Check in merchandise.
- Process requests and prepare orders.
- Place orders in delivery areas.
- Sort and place items on shelves or in bins.
- Open containers and crates.
- Prepare parcels and packages.
- Count inventory and record data.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Wear safety equipment.
- Clean and tidy work area regularly.
How to become a Warehouse Worker
To work as a Warehouse Worker in Australia you don’t need formal qualifications, as on-the-job training is usually provided. However, you can undertake study in the field.
- 1.Consider a Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations (TLI30321).
- 2.Earn a forklift licence (TLILIC0003). The average course will take 4 days to complete, and there are no minimum entry requirements.
- 3.Warehouse Workers are often required to obtain a high risk work licence through Safe Work Australia.
