What’s it like working at Bupa?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees appreciate their colleagues and team members, consistently describing them as supportive, friendly, and professional. The remote work flexibility is highly valued, with many enjoying the ability to work from home full-time or several days per week. Discounted health insurance, particularly the 40% discount on premiums, is seen as a valuable benefit. Additionally, several employees highlight the company's commitment to work-life balance and employee wellbeing.

However, there are some potential challenges. Management practices vary across teams, with some employees noting concerns about support and communication. Training programmes could be enhanced, as the onboarding period can feel rushed for the complexity of the role. Performance expectations can be demanding, with KPIs that some find challenging to achieve. Technology systems occasionally experience slowness or downtime, impacting efficiency. Career progression opportunities may be limited and can depend on tenure or internal relationships. Workload demands can be high, particularly in customer-facing roles with multiple tasks and high call volumes. Finally, remuneration is viewed as modest by some employees relative to role demands.

The good thingsnothing was good at all
The challengesThe management in this workplace is extremely poor, offering little to no support for staff. Decisions about shifts or opportunities often feel arbitrary or biased, depending on who is favored. Overall, it creates an unfair and unprofessional environment for employees.

    My mental health thanks me.
The good thingsOpportunity to WFH 3 days, subsidized employee (basic level) health insurance with "rewards" like discounts on movie tickets & gift cards etc, and the team of people I worked with.
The challengesTraining structure needs a lot of improvement. Simply not enough scheduled time (especially if the systems decide to ka poot while you're trying to apply what you've learnt) for embedding skills before you are straight into next block of training/up skill and you're still trying to process and learn the previous training block, whilst trying to explain things to a irate customer. Can I really blame them? Expected to know how handle myBupa app calls when we never received training about the app/troubleshooting. I expressed I needed further assistance on certain inquiries and it took WEEKS for someone to actually talk to me about it. The knowledge base system is horrible... It is counterintuitive, makes what should be simple processes unnecessarily complex to navigate or understand. You will be expected to put up with the systems barely ever working too, because that's "just the way things are and always have been". There is a reason half the team left before the 3 month mark.

Be "Brave, Caring, and Responsible" and look elsewhere
The good thingsEmployee discounts but that's about all
The challengesYou won't be living a "longer, healthier, or a happier life" working for this company. Toxic circus run by clowns, Micromanaging at it's finest, Nobody knows what they are doing including TLS and major issues , feedback etc all swept under the rug, Too many major changes with only a few days notice and expected to be "on the ball" with these changes from get go. Newbies left right and centre with no idea who palm the work off often leaving experienced employees fatigued. Mental health is frowned upon...You won't be promoted because favorites exist long before you, so unless you are part of that "clique" all of your hard work will go unrecognized and unnoticed. Impossible to create "connection and collaboration with colleagues" when you are in a different team every 5 mins. So If you want a "happier, longer and healthier life then don't work here look elsewhere
