What’s it like working at ACAP University College?

    AI summary of recent reviews

ACAP University College is characterised by its supportive and collaborative work environment, particularly among academic staff and direct team members. Employees appreciate working with engaged and motivated students in smaller class sizes, which creates a dynamic learning environment. The institution offers good work-life balance and flexibility, including work-from-home options, which many staff members value highly.

However, there are some areas for improvement. Academic staff report challenging workload expectations, particularly regarding teaching multiple subjects and marking requirements. There are concerns about communication and support from senior management, especially regarding consultation and decision-making processes. Additionally, staff indicate that remuneration is below industry standard, particularly for academic roles.

They dont care about you. Senior Management will work you like a horse for below standard salary
The good thingsCoffee machine Fellow course advisors and TLs, are extremely lovely and helpful and unite together to boost office morale.
The challengesSenior management is the problem. Flexibility was frequently threatened or removed as a blanket response to the mistakes of others, rather than issues being addressed fairly or individually, creating a culture of fear rather than accountability. Negative or rude behaviours were dismissed or minimised by management. Excessive micromanagement undermined confidence and caused capable employees to question their abilities. Unrealistic KPI's and expectations where you burn out and then made fo feel like you're a failure if you dont hit them Favouritism. Very little understanding or empathy for working parents; when a child was sick, the response felt accusatory rather than supportive. Overall this place is poorly managed, stress inducing and will break your confidence.

A company which gives the least and expects the most in return.
The good thingsNot a lot. It was good years ago but then office politics got in the way.
The challengesArchaic and inflexible work policy. Office politics know no loyalty. Staff are able to treat each other with no respect with no intervention. No funds for staff events or Christmas parties. Pay is well under the industry standard.

A wonderful workplace to dedicate myself to professionally, and rewarding in that my efforts really have a meaningful impact.
The good thingsThe flexibility and support from direct management and immediate my team and second to none. Wonderful colleagues, so many fun and diverse characters. ACAP has a dynamic culture and a genuinely purposeful working environment / common goal. Everyone is doing their best and support each other where possible to achieve goals together and share information. Appreciative management where I feel valued!
The challengesSystems and modern technology could be improved. However, is a work in progress and not ignored.
