What’s it like working at atWork Australia?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at atWork Australia appreciate their supportive colleagues who create a positive team environment, and value their direct managers and service managers who are described as genuine and helpful. The onboarding process is consistently praised as excellent and well-structured. Staff find the work rewarding, particularly when helping clients with disabilities progress into meaningful employment and make positive changes in their lives.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. Key Performance Indicators can be difficult to achieve, with targets that may not always align with client circumstances. Upper management approaches can involve micromanagement and frequent leadership changes, with a focus on metrics. Ongoing training and support after onboarding could be more structured, and workload can be demanding with high caseloads and administrative tasks. Additionally, compensation and recognition could be enhanced, with limited annual increases and challenging bonus criteria, whilst career progression opportunities tend to be lateral rather than promotional. Staff turnover is noted as being high, which can affect team stability.

Big mistake taking this position, huge!
The good thingsOnboarding was fantastic - such a shame there was very little Mentoring and Shadowing to back it up, to confidently put it all into practice.
The challengesLack of respectful communication, keyboard warriors rather than face to face conversations, office gossip, staff betting on how long it would take for a new staffer to quit, so much money spent on alcohol, food, snacks, and gifts/incentives to Staff, at 16 weeks into the job my training/equipment had still not been fully provided - I was told "it is what it is"!. Having to take equipment home with you all the time and the demands about the safety of such. The VALUES are for the clients and not shown to some staff to any degree at all. The expectations of staff are totally over the top. 4 staff left in 2 weeks!

This isn’t a job for people who don’t care about people, you are looking after peoples lives.
