Big mistake taking this position, huge!
The good thingsOnboarding was fantastic - such a shame there was very little Mentoring and Shadowing to back it up, to confidently put it all into practice.
The challengesLack of respectful communication, keyboard warriors rather than face to face conversations, office gossip, staff betting on how long it would take for a new staffer to quit, so much money spent on alcohol, food, snacks, and gifts/incentives to Staff, at 16 weeks into the job my training/equipment had still not been fully provided - I was told "it is what it is"!. Having to take equipment home with you all the time and the demands about the safety of such. The VALUES are for the clients and not shown to some staff to any degree at all. The expectations of staff are totally over the top. 4 staff left in 2 weeks!

This isn’t a job for people who don’t care about people, you are looking after peoples lives.
The good thingsSupportive management, great colleagues and a good environment all together
The challengesThe training for new employees is a bit all over the place.

    Unpleasant but manageable
The good thingsLocated in Sydney Greater West: Work colleagues in the office I am currently situated at make the workplace environment great.
The challengesLike many have mentioned, unrealistic KPI's, high turnover and hiring people with little/no experience in senior roles. Salary is very low, workload is demanding.

Avoid this company like the plague.
The good thingsGreat colleagues and supportive service manager.
The challengesUnrealistic KPI's, narcissistic regional manager, a company that prides themselves on values however does not uphold a single one, no opportunity for career growth, lack of training, grossly underpaid and overworked.

THE WORSE COMPANY TO WORK FOR. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ATWORK AUSTRALIA TO ANYONE
The good thingsWorking alongside some great colleagues
The challengesNo support from Management both ground and upper. Being micro managed in the worse way and be littled at every corner. My mental health has taken such a toll that I am having to seek professional help because I have been told by doctor I am suffering from PTSD. I came into this roll as a healthy professional only to leave traumatised by the treatment from Management. atWork is NOT who they say they are, they are definitely NOT client focused, they are a number and $$$ driven company. Staff are their soldiers through and through.

    Incredibly rude work environment.
The good thingsNothing at all. Toxic workplace full of hypocrisy.
The challengesThe impossible monthly targets. Disrespect toward staff by regional manager. Hypocrisy and double talk.

I'm genuinely relieved to have moved on. It was the right decision, and I feel much better being out
The good thingsSome coworkers and clients
The challengesNo annual pay increases are provided. Staff must advocate for a pay rise by justifying their value to management, who then determine eligibility. This process is inconsistent and lacks transparency. Employees with extensive experience are earning the same as new starters with no prior experience. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are set at levels that are often unattainable. While bonuses are technically available for meeting KPIs, the targets are unrealistic. Role changes within the organisation are lateral rather than promotional, meaning staff do not receive a pay increase when changing positions. Staff feel undervalued. Length of service is not meaningfully recognised; anniversary acknowledgements are limited to gift cards or time off, rather than tangible rewards or career progression.

    New regional manager was horrible.
The good thingsMy direct manager was amazing. My team were awesome. The clients that wanted help were great.
The challengesKPIs unachievable when the clients don’t really care. Upper management never happy with anything we do. The new regional manager was awful. Drove most of my team to leave.

Team work makes the dream work
The good thingsThe team culture is everything! Front-line staff work with heart and are amazing.
The challengesUpper management and the cut throat approaches could be improved. You will pour everything into this company and not be acknowledged for it.

top Management are a bit interesting with the way they request a manager to resign (after they score the company a two year contract) due to said manager living too far. They also made an interesting choice to hire her replacement who lives 15 minutes down the road (still two hours away, down the road from the previous manager not the region). since the original manager has resigned the values they claim to live by have gone down the drain. its a continuous cycle of staff and that kind of energy happens all the time.
The good thingsI loved speaking with the clients and helping them to progress.
The challengesKPIs' are unachievable, metaphor; you would run and run up to the hurdle (KPI) Just as you got to the hurdle they would move it back to something harder and once you were so close to achieving it again they would continue to move it back. While working for this company I feel I was highly supported and encouraged but if I was to slip and not have a good week; all the support and encouragement was not provided.

Unrealistic targets expected while paying ridiculously low wages.
The good thingsSome amazing staff that are undervalued, genuinely helping clients.
The challengesUnrealistic targets, no support, toxic environment, bad management, terrible pay, no career opportunities, bad behaviour and poor work ethics are a must for employment here.

Staff turnover is ridiculous, which tells you everything.
The good thingsAs a Job Coach, I came in wanting to help people—but ended up in a high-stress environment where management routinely failed to support or protect staff. Bulying from clients or coworkers? Swept under the rug. Burnout? Ignored. You’re expected to just keep going.
The challengesBeing a Job Coach here was an exercise in daily frustration. You're sold the idea that you're making a difference in clients' lives, but in reality, you're just pushed to hit impossible KPI's.

The burnout rate was high, and it felt like a revolving door of job coaches coming and going. Ultimately, this is not a place I would recommend to anyone looking for meaningful, sustainable work in employment services.
    The good thingsSupportive colleagues.
The challengesCaseloads were unreasonably high, with minimal resources or time allocated to actually help clients. Upper management were only focused on hitting KPIs rather than delivering quality outcomes for job seekers.

This role had a severe and lasting impact on my mental health. It has taken a year of counselling and working in a good supportive role to recover. I was hired into my current role because my employer was aware of the reputation of atWork and had previously hired others who had left the organisation.
The good thingsFriendly colleagues. It was fairly easy to find another job as local companies understood my reason for leaving atWork.
The challengesWorking with vulnerable clients can be emotionally draining. The expectations placed on job coaches were completely disconnected from the realities of the clients we were supposed to support. Impossible KPI's.

This toxic and unsafe workplace not only ignored staff safety and pushed unrealistic KPIs but impacted my mental health so severely I couldn’t return to work for over a year—I'm still dealing with PTSD from the way I was treated and regret not taking it further!
The good thingsWhile helping people into work was genuinely rewarding, it was a harmful and toxic environment that prioritised numbers over the people doing the work. It left many staff burnt out, unsupported, and deeply disillusioned. I would not recommend this workplace to anyone
The challengesToxic workplace with unrealistic KPIs, constant micro-management, and no staff support. Safety concerns were ignored — duress alarms were denied to avoid upsetting violent clients. Staff wellbeing was never prioritised. Burnout was high. A deeply unsafe and demoralising environment.

Supportive and genuine workplace that allows you to help and support your clients
The good thingsYou truely get to help people and make a change to their lives. The support from work mates and direct managers is genuine and honest.
The challengesThe job is challenging where there are lots of moving parts, systems, admin, processes, KPI’s. You have to put effort in everyday and be ready to pivot or change direction when required. That’s not to everyone’s liking.

Do not apply for any of their roles if you value your physical and mental well being.
The good thingsWorking along with staff and other teams on location.
The challengesNo formal training only modules, poor pay & poor support structure for staff mental health, timed toilet breaks, unachievable KPIs, no recourse for false complaints from clients, culture of blame from senior management and lack of accountability. Value signalling without any action.

If want this job to genuinely help people, this is not the company for you. There are far better providers out there! Focus is clearly to make more money, not staff wellbeing, not the vulnerable clients and definitely not integrity.
The good thingsSome generally great people work here but starting to dwindle. They will hire almost anybody at their mass recruitment events and mostly promote internally for management roles which can be a challenge if you are after a good leader, but good if you are wanting to get promoted.
The challengesDecline in quality of management is evident in staff dissatisfaction. Staff are overworked & under-appreciated, hence high turn over. Culture of "covering-up" created by middle management with no honesty & integrity. Staff left on site alone. Bonuses are an empty promise. Worst workplace I've had.

The good thingsWorking with some good clients
The challengesUnprofessional management, gossip, brown nosing and cliques. Clients are $$$ and not people. Company does not live up to its own values. unsafe offices, no client privacy, lack of training for new staff and HR dept is inept. They have mass recruitment events to try to keep up with staff turnover.

Rewarding until politics prevent actual help
The good thingsSeeing first hand results from the clients who use the service, that then progress into meaningful employment to better there personal circumstances moving forward.
The challengesTrying to get upper management to actually stand for and want the change and rewards for the clients like they say they claim to look to achieve as per their company structure.

The good thingsWe did get to go to some nice group lunches

Best decision I made was resigning
The good thingsAssisting clients with disabilities get back into employment and the Frontline staff and Service Managers
The challengesWithin the three and a half years of working here, I had four different service managers resign due to upper management micro managing. The KPIs were unrealistic, with high caseloads due to staff turnover. No support and unreasonable expectations, long travel times to numerous offices within the week, limited office and IT equipment to support clients. No opportunity for career progression.

The good thingsInteresting and diverse clients Good opportunity to get internship hours Friendly colleagues Additional funding for supervision and discounted membership to CoPP
The challengesI struggled with the KPIs. 6 hours of client contact per day left very limited time to prepare or complete notes. I had some difficulties with the offices I was using as I felt they did not provide sufficient privacy for the clients.

Worth the experience but not a long term stay in the company
The good thingsWorking with people of different cultures and issues, It is a learning experience which enriches your life along with other lives. Colleagues are great.
The challenges1.Company is dependent on a few Managers. Numerous complaints fall on deaf ears as HR is least interested in listening to you. So most people who are good with their jobs and people leave the job. 2. Workload is higher compared to other providers. Bonus is a joke as you can never get it 3. Unnecessary Reverse marketing when the jobs are already there and cheap incentives for marketing 4. Job Coach is expected to be a Bus Dev Manager, Counsellor and a Recruiter.
