I'd still be there today if it weren't for the management.
The good thingsI enjoyed interacting with guests and making long lasting friends amongst other casual coworkers. I'm also grateful for the fact i was outdoors, on my feet all day, remaining somewhat active. The cafe food was pretty good and we got that 50% off!
The challengesThe biggest challenge in this role was management! Different supervisors often gave different rules and directions, which made it hard knowing what was actually expected. Staff could be criticized for following instructions that had been approved by another supervisor, resulting in getting in trouble. There were also ongoing issues with fairness. Favoritism was obviously noticeable, and expectations were not applied consistently. Workplace gossip about employees, very passive-aggressive communication, and occasional unprofessional confrontations from supervisors made the environment incredibly uncomfortable at times. Although roles are advertised as casual, there's constant expectation to maintain availability and commitment similar to part-time or full-time rolls, while still being treated strictly as the lowest casuals. Expect shifts to get canceled last minute, but make sure to find suitable coverage, give 16 days notice, and prepare to get yelled at if something comes up???

    Management is a bit hectic
The good thingsGreat atmosphere when I first started, it's great providing a fun experience for guests. When you have fun, they usually have fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the past 2.5yrs with my role. It was very repetitive but almost everyday, the work felt rewarding.
The challenges- Rainy Weather = Less/Cancelled shifts - Gets quiet week days so there is less shifts/staff. - Customers aren't always going to be happy with annual maintenance. - Constantly trying to push for sales. - Mentioned providing more training and career opportunities without going through with it. It was hard to continue holding on to a workplace that didn't respect the time and effort you put into it. - Management just went down hill in my opinion, I don't think anyone knew what was happening until the last minute which reflected poorly on not only my co-workers but the company due to lack of planning and communication. - They hired new staff and gave less shifts to older/more experienced staff
