    Motorcycle Postal Delivery Officer

Port Melbourne VIC 32074 to 5 years in the role, former employee
Never again will I work for a company that leaves me this drained.
The good thingsI valued the high level of autonomy once out on the route and the opportunity to work alongside down-to-earth, supportive coworkers. From a financial standpoint, the salary loading and availability of overtime were the primary incentives that made the role sustainable for as long as it was.
The challengesUpper management is the primary issue. There is a heavy emphasis on "safety first" and "Be a Friend" programs during morning talks, but the reality on the floor is a constant pressure to work faster. This creates a contradictory environment where safety is only prioritised after an accident occurs. Micromanagement is frequent, turning a straightforward job into a stressful one. It often feels like management is more concerned with liability and "covering their backs" than genuine employee well-being.

    Great job, ruthless management.
The good thingsI really enjoyed the work - autonomous yet part of a team, the camaraderie, and a satisfying feeling of service and achievement.
The challengesNeed to improve on HR skills - management will use you, then ghost you. They will train you, you'll be acceptable to them, they'll even say "Couldn't have done (the seasonal work) without you" as you walk out, but apply for a regular job there..."not selected" and no one will tell you why. Quite a few positions came up after I left, various fulltime staff wondered why I hadn't been employed, but all I got was the sound of crickets. Am I too old? Don't expect anyone to own up to that. Did I do such a bad job? Such a bad job that "couldn't have been done without me"? I watched fulltime staff play the system, and keep getting away with it, yet all I wanted to do was work...crickets.

Has its ups and dows but great physical job.
The good thingsAll the staff are friendly and willing to help. Once mid november hits the work is full on and heaps of parcels to sort. Great way to keep active wil working as tou can be lifing up to 15kg along and more with multiple people.
The challengesMiss communications with contracts from head office to new staff. Found out what we orignally signed up for was not wjat we would be working in terms of hours. They verbally offered us casual staff a weekend with additional penalty rates however when the payslip came out we were told that it was incorrectly told and we wouldnt be getting anything extra. Messaging staff on the day asking them to work isnt the most convient thing for people wanting a work life balance.

If I left and had the opportunity to work here again, I would decline. Good experience though.
The good thingsA lot of assistance from managers, very open minded with what you wear, respectful of diversity, work from home, everyone is pretty friendly.
The challengesThe pay is not the best for a complaints role. I would prefer $45+ mark to handle these kind of customers. Meeting certain KPI's can be a bit demanding, I like to take my time. Quality over quantity. It can be a little micromanaging (stalkerish).

Sub par poor experience, could have been better, but definitely not worth it
The good thingsWorking in the city Pay was above average 4 days work from home, optional but was given
The challengesKPIs definitely, 480 AHT (average call handle time) to be averaged in a week, given the nature of the calls this is far out of reach and most people rarely touched this target, ones that do struggle to maintain it, if you dont then you get the boot. Micromanagent as well, when I was at work I was constantly getting stared at and being asked what I was doing even though I was doing the work, this was uncomfortable and only made me feel more under pressure. They have an adherence metric too so they will tell when you've gone over a break or not doing a set task at a set time, also they are watching your screens so that is another pointer. A friend of mine who worked there told me they overheard one of the team managers talking about them to other workers behind their back, so that is a pointer no one there promotes a good workplace, despite there so called TIES core values. Towards the end I decided this was not worth my mental health so I threw in towel

An unhealthy, poorly run disaster and an outright failure of leadership.
The good thingsFormal induction, good training, safety is emphasized.
The challengesToxic environment where the wrong type of people are in charge and favouritism is commonplace, the engagement of unethical behaviours to push you out the door or make you unhappy, even if you do your job well. Their TIES values mean nothing in practice, It's only a company motto.

All call centers after this one will be a breath of fresh air
The good thingsCoworkers are wonderful, pay is decent, WFH 4 days a week is pretty good. If you like learning new things constantly and don't mind stressful high-volume inbound calls, this is an OK job. Getting trained for the consumer Digital team makes your life so much better.
The challengesYour experience will vary dramatically depending on who your Team Manager is. Some are very supportive and kind, some are very harsh and KPI focused. Customers are often extremely unpleasant and entitled especially during Christmas/Peak. You get no breaks between calls and all work is expected to be completed during the actual call. Borderline impossible to convert from a casual role to a permanent one.

Fun and interesting place to work for a casual Xmas job.
The good thingsWe worked in the international letter section, sorting letters and postcards. It was a pretty straightforward, no-pressure job for 5 hours a day. It's a huge place with a lot going on.
The challengesWe had to stand for a couple of hours, as the permanent staff were still working and had the chairs. It was also a little hot sometimes.

A toxic, mismanaged mess where helpful staff are overshadowed by hostility, chaos, and complete leadership failure.
The good thingsSome of the staff were genuinely nice.
The challengesAustralia Post was hands down one of the worst workplaces I’ve experienced. Senior posties were hostile toward new staff for using scanners we were told to use. Management handed out run sheets full of errors, then expected new hires to cover shifts with completely wrong info. StarTrack pickups were constantly misassigned, and we had to deal with the fallout from frustrated customers. Communication from management was non-existent — talking to a brick wall would’ve been more effective. Avoid unless you enjoy being blamed for other people’s mistakes.

Enjoyable and Rewarding Place to Work
The good thingsThe environment is incredibly friendly and supportive, which makes a real difference in day-to-day work. I feel valued and part of a team that genuinely cares. It’s a great place to grow and contribute.
The challengesWhile I’m very satisfied overall, one area that could be improved is the pace of internal processes, which can sometimes feel a bit slow due to the size of the organisation. Like many large companies, change can take time. However, the positive culture and supportive team environment make up for it.

Come for the money not the lifestyle.
The good thingsThere's always overtime available. They won't fire you as long as you are fairly consistent with the rules.
The challengesNot having control over the length of your day. They treat people like units of production and don't like individuals and big personalities.
