    Robot mentality and kpi driven.
The good thingsTeamwork from the workshop floor environment, regardless of experience.
The challengesThe management team listens and occasionally enacts information from team members who have proven procedures from other sites and implements improvements when they arise.

Future Fit Academy gets young people out of their comfort zones
The good thingsThe fast passed environment allows you to be exposed to several different areas of expertise and allows you to conform your own identity based on what works for you.
The challengesThe curriculum team could be more organized to allow for trainers to be more involved with students rather then fixing errors made by the higher ups.

    Mining bureaucracy on show
The good thingsStrong focus on safety. Ok pay
The challengescasual contract only, regardless of length of time onsite Management don't manage workers. They are removed from actual operations, constantly in meetings, not able to provide guidance or coaching. I've seen people arrive at site, ignored by management and left to sit with nothing to do for months. Poor communications, no accountability, little productive work.

    - I am glad I am not working there anymore. - If you want to work for BHP, work on site not IROC.
The good things- Somewhat a friendly work environment. - They have little reward programs but some departments use them more then others.
The challenges- Always pushed to do better when your performance is at maximum. - Whilst in early training as an NTI you're quickly expected to perform just like other operators whom have been working in the industry for years. - Constantly being micromanaged. - Everyone is always miserable, constantly complaining about their salary and bonuses. - Never receiving positive feedback when you actually do well in your department. They only like to point out things you do wrong. - They constantly emphasize how important it is to "follow the company values" when they don't follow the values themselves and instead, they create a toxic work environment that just turns employees against one another in a competitive way, to only focus on the flaws that each other is doing and then crying about it to their line leaders. - Constantly getting spoken to like dirt over the comms 2-way when you are always being friendly and trying to keep those on site safe. Just simply doing your job.

    Disappointment and a let down
The good thingsBHP Benefits including Big Thanks and discounts.
The challengesManagement and purple circles. Place is rife with it. Incredibly toxic and unsavoury place to work that devalues and dehumanises mental health and well-being of its people.

Learned a lot and grew a lot as a person and a miner, glad I left as I’ve learned so much more in other avenues.
The good thingsThe pay was decent yearly Bonuses! The culture can be an issue but this can change depending on what your crew is like. Town close by 7-7 even time rosters
The challengesCulture can be an issue especially with people in leadership roles who can throw their weight around when unnecessarily, at the end of the day they don’t care about the workers you’re just another number. Preach values but don’t deliver sometimes Promotions can sometimes come down if you fit the criteria at that point in time leaving a lot of disgruntled employees. My time there wasn’t all bad met some lovely people throughout my time at BHP

Demoralising Environment Lead by Leaders with high levels of self importance and zero respect for workers
The good thingsUnfortunately there is nothing reportable.
The challengesMobile Maintenance Leadership lacks trade skills, promotes gossip, and creates unsafe, toxic conditions. Staff fear speaking up due to retaliation. Urgent review of supervisors and culture needed. Supervisors create a demoralising culture.

A deeply disappointing experience -- I would NOT recommend this company even to an enemy.
    The good thingsFlexible work environment.
The challengesIncompetent leaders in Procurement and Commercial function, toxic culture, and a tendency to reward underperformers. Restructures are poorly planned and executed. Although safety is emphasised publicly, employees often fear speaking up due to potential repercussions.

The good thingsThe camp was pretty tidy.
The challengesBHP is over run with process, and bureaucracy. Tough to get anything done, therefore most of the team are frustrated and grumpy.

Welshpool WA 61063 to 4 years in the role, current employee
It was the best of times... and it was the blurst of times. Experience ruined due to company ethics compromised in favour of nepotism. The appointees can be as useles as they like as they are friends witht he superintendent. Those ads you see on TV? They're full of you know what!! If you get in... Take the cheque and coast along under the radar. There's no punishment for being mediocre.
The good thingsBHP pays great superannuation, their shares scheeme and the hours are pretty good. Probably the best you can find anywhere in Perth
The challengesThe purple circle in management. They are untouchable. They can be as incompetant and completely out of their depth and it wouldn't matter. The pressure is then applied to the shop floor to compensate for the shortcomings. A lot of attention on petty issues and none on site improvement.

Great experience to adapt and learn about toxic culture. Some chances at RCA breakdowns
The good thingsMajority of the MA's and Fitters are good knowledgable people that are willing to help
The challengesOver reach of management and severe micromanagement guised under safety. Extremely fast paced work and no job satisfaction, little to no time to complete tasks to their expectations and timeframes. The salary states a bonus which is very very hard to achieve with the lack of tooling and MA's to help

Challenging to keep positive and your mental health in check.
The good thingsWorking along side highly skilled and experienced Tradespersons. (Trainer Assesors)
The challengesworking with inexperienced trainers who are hired to tick the KPI Box and The management who hire them and their inexperienced friends at the expense of professional employees who are overlooked and pushed out the door. This is detrimental to the students whom we are supposed to be training.

Worst experience of my life. This company is unprincipled and will do anything to protect its reputation
The good thingsI had the opportunity to meet some genuinely kind and respectful people.
The challengesAlthough BHP advocates for safety as a top priority, I frequently found myself in situations where I felt unsafe due to the behavior of my crew, who intimidated, belittled, and refused to train me. Despite raising these concerns with my supervisor, trainers and superintendent, no actions were taken.

Excellent! Until last site, where management wanted no part of any reports 'against the norm'. Shame that a small group of individuals have ruined this great company's reputation in my mind.
The good thingsAmple opportunity for development. Competitive salary. Some sites better than others.
The challengesPolitics and agendas. Preaching safety all the time, however when it comes to the pointy end of the stick, it'll always be production over safety. Raise safety concerns, physical and psychosocial hazards, only to have dismissed or ignored. Very competitive internally between groups, especially where two or more persons are on same development path.

If you’re a caring person, BHP isn’t for you.
The good thingsThe remuneration is competitive. The work environment is pleasant. BHP emphasizes safety (physical safety only).
The challengesThe site has a lot of politics, sadly making tasks and life challenging. Work-life balance is more talked about on LinkedIn than actually experienced here.

It's been a good expirience, met some awesome people but I'll never work for them again once I leave.
The good thingsThe people on the floor are great.
The challengesThere's a massive pay difference between people hired in the same position that BHP can't rectify which makes it hard to stay motived. Can't get training to expend on your knowledge or skills. Upper management dont care about you.
