Amazing team culture and quality-based focus.
The good thingsAmazing team culture, always looking for collaboration opportunities and how best to support colleagues across the network! There is a great sense for quality within the team, supporting each other to do better and provide great services.
The challengesFunding challenges within the NDIS framework prove to be a challenge for operations, however Breakthru along with the support from the Royal Rehab Group is well positioned to navigate these obstacles in the years to come.

Overall, the lack of respect, appreciation, and inclusivity has created a toxic culture that pushes people down instead of lifting them up.
The good things Nothing , no Mangment hard on staff they use you
The challengesWhat I don’t like about my workplace is the lack of inclusivity and respect. The environment feels as if only “Oz people” are truly valued, while others are treated as less important. This creates division instead of teamwork. Staff members are not respected or appreciated for the effort they put in. No matter how much work you do or how hard you try, it often goes unnoticed. There’s little recognition, which makes it hard to stay motivated. On top of that, managers can be very mean in the way they speak and act. Instead of supporting staff and encouraging them, they often come across as harsh and unkind. This affects morale and creates a toxic atmosphere. Overall, the workplace culture needs serious improvement in respect, appreciation, and fair treatment for everyone.

I’m incredibly proud to be part of a team that truly embodies our group’s values. From day one, I’ve been surrounded by passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to delivering exceptional service and support to our customers. What sets us apart is the genuine care and collaboration across our group. We work together with integrity, always striving to improve and innovate. The culture here is not only supportive but also deeply aligned with our mission to make a meaningful difference for those we serve.
The good thingsGreat leadership, strong values across the group, and a team that truly cares. Flexibility and excellent salary packaging make it even better. The benefits are outstanding, and the culture is supportive and customer focused. A fantastic place to grow and thrive.
The challengesAlthough we’re a busy team and the days fly by, working alongside such great colleagues makes it a truly enjoyable and rewarding place to be.

    Best place I've ever worked
The good thingsEveryone is very supportive. Staff including managers will bend over backwards if it means they can help a client or colleague. The culture is very welcoming and every person you meet genuinely just wants to help people. Overall Breakthru has to be the best place I've ever worked in my career.
The challengesAs with any corporate/shared services role it can be challenging at times to juggle competing priorities across multiple different brands and locations, but that's also what makes the work interesting and rewarding.

Most toxic environment I've ever worked. Horrendous manager and equally terrible Team Leaders.
The good thingsThe clients are amazing, the best part of the job.
The challengesManagement are appalling. A toxic environment full of favouritism, being yelled at and poor decisions. If you're in the click with the Regional Manager you can get away with anything, everyone else is vilified, intimidated and lied about by her and her two offsides. They are horrendous.

I wouldnt work here unless you love favourtism, low pay and a hostile working environment.
The good thingsFellow colleagues that were in the same position and expereinced the same issues really made it worthwhile being there. However, due to the environment many staff opted to work from home (which they are now increasing the difficuty of)
The challengesPay - underpaid for the role, underpaid for the level of work they expect from you. Requested a review though as SCs are required to complete tasks and responsibilities that a team leader is required to do. Pay level did NOT match the roles and responsibilities appropriatey. It has come to light that BT have previously been found by Fairwork to backpay their employees. Can confirm they are still underpaying them. Management - while approachable, they are quick to palm off your issues to others. E.g. telling you to get another SC to help you (who is also oer worked, underpaid, and has more than their caseload allows) They promote in-house promotions and opportunities however 3 people have put their hand up for the current TL position and have been turned down. Anyone that requires extra support with technology will wait prolonged times or be told that this needs to be funded by themselves.

Would recommend this company to anyone with a passion for working with those who have a disability! Amazing company!
The good thingsThe team is always willing to help you out and encourage learning new things and professional development to make our workers understand a more diverse clientele. The management team has a really hands on approach when working with the team and will often follow up with how you are going with the workload. They are also incredibly understanding with work like balance as they understand work is not the only thing in you life. If you have feedback they are always willing to listen and take this on board to make the workplace a better and more inviting place to work. I would recommend this company to anyone who has a passion for working with those who have a disability.
The challengesOur team is quite small at the moment so it can make things a bit busy on occasion but they are trying to hire more people in order to minimise this issue.

Good job, but that’s all it will ever be. It won’t be a bigger one or a better onen
The good thingsCustomers and peers make it worth your while to stick around
The challengesSalary/ Wages are lower than industry average. Personal development and career progression halts regardless of how qualified or enthusiastic one is about moving up. Hardly any recognition for ones achievements

They work their workers into the ground and don't show much appreciation for the incredible work that some people do there. All about making money at this place.
The good thingsSome incredible front line workers there. They're the ones that helped me get through some hard days. Some opportunity for career development but not in the way you'd like.
The challengesSo much staff and management turnover. New managers coming in on power trips. Little to no support from management as a peer support worker. Always on the road. No actual time to have a proper lunch break, always on the go.

Great learning experience which had a very clear end date.
The good thingsAccess to great working experiences and the opportunity to grow and develop in your career. Career progression opportunities available. Great supportive team. Very rewarding work.
The challengesManagement have a punitive approach which creates a fear based working environment. Expectations on staff are unrealistic and unreasonable and create stress and a toxic work life balance. Very high turnover of staff. No strategies used for staff retention and no valuing off long term staff. It is hard to maintain health in such an environment. Proper support and management processes are not followed and quick decisions are made without consultation or feedback from team leaders or staff members.

Life changing - with a clear sense of purpose
The good thingsA revised and clear strategy since June 2018 that strengthens our sense of purpose to help people with disabilities reach seamless inclusion in their communities. This is very rewarding. Flexibility of workplace and hours is excellent The people are fantastic - I have never worked with such a great bunch.
The challengesWorking in the NDIS and Government grants means budgets are tight and we have to be imaginative.

The good thingsI had the opportunity to use my knowledge and expertise to assist others while expanding my skills and career in a diverse way. I also got to work with amazing colleagues dedicated to making a difference.

    Profits before people
The good thingsLovely co-workers and the clients were wonderful people making working in the field a joy.
The challengesCompany placed profits before people with disabilities. I ethically found this company hard to continue working for. They would consistently over promise and under-deliver. So sad as staff are wonderful people who want to provide a better service! The workload was excessive and management was very poor.

    Don't work here.
The good thingsAmazing team of hardworking, emphatic, and supportive people. Supporting others was rewarding.
The challengesManagement introduced KPI's that were completely unreasonable. Little regard for the amazing work people did there. Used punitive methods to enforce these changes. Resulted in mass exodus which wasn't acknowledged by management for what it was. Extremely poor morale as a result. Yet, some great people in management team, obviously lots of pressure from above.
