High turnover, poor maintenance, and a clear disconnect between management and reality.
The good thingsGood for a licence, but low standards and poor management quickly drive capable people away.
The challengesAvoid this company if you value professionalism, support, and basic working standards. The fleet is outdated and poorly maintained, with many buses well past their usable life. Faults like broken heaters and air conditioning are common, and breakdowns are a regular part of the job. Reporting issues often leads nowhere — vehicles are frequently returned with the same faults still not fixed. On hot days, being told to “open the windows” instead of having working air conditioning says everything about how seriously safety and comfort are treated. Standards are inconsistent. Some drivers take pride in their work, others don’t, and you’re often left dealing with it. Management tends to focus on minor issues rather than fixing larger, ongoing problems. There’s also noticeable favouritism, and some mentors come across as overly self-important, which doesn’t help new staff or the overall culture. High staff turnover says everything. There are far better-run companies in the industry.

Good training program ,but it's all down hill after that.
The good thingsThe training program was great and the people doing it were excellent.
The challengesUnsuitable people in management with no people skills. Old Buses with air-conditioning not working. Many daily breakdowns Unreasonable timetables. Extremely low pay. Talked down to daily Management pretend to care about you but will not listen to Drivers and try and blame the driver every time. Listening to all the drivers daily complaints about how bad Busways Management run the place.

    Only if you’re desperate
The good thingsDriving Public Transport can be a rewarding occupation. However not so much with busways.
The challengesThe busways timetables are impossible. It’s been this way for 5 years according to long suffering drivers. I’m told not to be concerned but what about the public. If we speak up, we get a written warning. I have two already. One more and I get sacked. I suspect the contractor/busways must make more profit by running late. If that is the case then they are not worthy of holding this contract. Too many drivers are stressed out trying to keep on time. Busways pledge they are a caring company by way of “Are You Ok Day” , what a croc. I just have to learn not to care, wonder if that is written into busways company charter.

Cruel managers in Lonsdale depot Cruel management. They will over discipline you for minor infractions. Will talk down to you and belittle you. Sadly they will never treat you the way passengers should be treated as they don't care about passengers either. Don't get a job there as they will destroy you. They have the highest driver turnover in history.
