Honestly this company is a scam
The good thingsDon't bother applying for any casual roles, they are constantly hiring people even though they have no shifts for casuals available.
The challengesAfter completing the onboarding modules, renewing my first aid out of pocket and waiting around for weeks for them to finalise the contract, I was given access to the shifts. There are never any shifts, I didn't want to believe the reviews but they are true. I was offered my first shift today and it was rostered for me without me accepting it (there are never any to accept) the shift is located an hour from my address, is two hours long and was scheduled for the end of JULY. Don't waste your time if you are looking to actually work, they have wasted weeks for me. I have worked at different companies in this industry and so it was clear to me from the interview that you are just a number to them, there is no support and as a casual you will only worked last minute, are expected to travel and will not make enough money to be sustainable. Apply elsewhere.

Great experience and great place to learn and grow.
The good thingsThe team culture is supportive, the training is thorough, and there’s a real sense of purpose in helping children learn, grow, and have fun every day. The flexibility, positive environment, and opportunities for personal development make it a fantastic place to build meaningful skills and a fulfilling career
The challengesHigh pressure given environment and so workload can be high.
People & Culture teamThank you for the lovely feedback and 5‑star rating. We’re so glad to hear you’ve had a positive experience and feel supported in your growth and development. We appreciate your honesty around the workload and recognise the importance of supporting our teams in a high‑pressure environment. DO NOT APPLY HERE IF YOU WANT TO WORK. NOT A SINGLE SHIFT IN 4 MONTHS!!!!!!
The good thingsI WISH I COULD TELL YOU BUT THEY GAVE ME NO SHIFTS IN THE 4 MONTHS OF WORKING THERE.
The challengesThey didn't give me any shifts in the 4 months of working there. I emailed them multiple times and called them and they basically said to me that the only shifts they give are emergency shifts which get taken instantly. They advertise the job to be in one location but in reality you have to travel all over Melbourne to work at random schools. They made me do a first aid course which I had to pay for out of pocket, and they made me complete all their online training for NOTHING. PLEASE don't waste your time because they will waste yours. I looked at the reviews and thought "Oh this can't be as bad as they are saying" BUT IT IS. Please listen to the reviews and DO NOT WORK HERE. BECAUSE YOU WON'T ACTUALLY BE WORKING AT ALL.

I wouldn’t recommend working for Camp Australia due to poor management and safety concerns.
The good thingsI loved some of my co-workers and working with the children was amazing
The challengesI would not recommend working for Camp Australia based on my experience. There appear to be serious issues with management, fairness, and overall accountability within the organisation. In my view, the company does not adequately support its staff or prioritise the wellbeing of the children in its care. The hiring standards seem minimal, with a Working With Children Check appearing to be the only real requirement, regardless of an applicant’s suitability for the role. I witnessed concerning behaviour from coworkers that went against company policies and child safety standards. These issues were formally reported, yet no meaningful action seemed to be taken. This lack of follow-through raises significant concerns about transparency, leadership, and commitment to maintaining a safe environment. Overall, my experience left me feeling unsupported and unheard. I believe substantial improvements in management practices, staff oversight, and child safety accountability are necessary.

This company is a good example of why OSHC & childcare industry should not be for profit.
The good things A useful stepping stone if you are new to teaching/childcare/education and want to learn more about system.
The challengesBut as a casual its EXTREMELY hard to get shifts. Rostering team will cancel your shifts without any notice. I find it ironic they expect us to give 48 hours notice if we can't work a shift for any reason but will happily cancel shifts the day of with little to no alternative. Management exist in their own little bubble in this company. There's a distinct lack of leadership and direction on a day to day basis.

Run. Scroll past. Do not do it.
The good thingsWorking withe the kids, parents and school.
The challengesEverything. Irregular staff but CA refuse to put in permanent educators, especially for an ISE role. Upper management, well there is not one good thing to say except they are suits sitting behind a desk making ill informed decisions and not doing thorough investigations. Multiple complaints about service leader by parents and yet nothing is done and parents are ignored. Educators are reprimanded for not stopping fights between children and yet there is a no touch policy in place or you are reprimanded for breaking up a fight, you just can't win.

An incredible work experience, but impossible to sustain the funds of life.
The good thingsI worked at Ormeau and the Service manager there was incredibly supportive, attentive and open to listen to any suggestions. It can really depend on which school and team, that makes a good or bad experience. but overall, I had a great team, and the children are dignified and valued.
The challenges1)Unfortunately, not all schools were like this. Some schools had part time workers, who would complain all about each other, about issues that could have been resolved with clear and honest communication. 2) short shifts and long drives. driving almost an hour to get to two-hour shift, that is not worth the fuel and time for such a short shift.

    Four Corners Episode worthy centre
The good thingsI can't think of anything positive to say.
The challengesI arrived, no induction, not welcomed by staff, asked to serve food - refused as I had no induction and didn't know what kids had allergies. A woman from the Department arrived - the centre was being spot checked. Every 30 mins all children had to sit down and a roll call was done which took about 15 mins. This interrupted their play and the kids were noticeably non compliant. One child ran away. Educators had no skills to handle the disruptive kids who were very disgruntled and throwing equipment. In hindsight, after seeing the entire afternoon and imagining this as a daily occurrence.. I don't blame those kids. Any good kid would be disgruntled at the routine and explode eventually if they hadn't already faded away into learned helplessness. Very sad. Glad the Department was investigating

I didn’t think any oshc could operate so badly ,it was a real eye opener
The good thingsThe children are great ,but unfortunately the management team and educators don’t have skills to help the challenging children instead opting to just ignore their behaviour
The challengesThe educators and service leader / manager are co -dependent , immature and lack basic skills and experience to run a great service

Overall, Camp Australia is a fantastic place to work if you’re passionate about working with children and want to be part of a supportive and professional team.
The good thingsWorking with Camp Australia in OSHC (Outside School Hours Care) has been a rewarding and enjoyable experience. The company provides a structured and supportive environment where staff feel valued. Leadership is approachable, responsive, and genuinely cares about staff well-being. I've always felt encouraged and supported by my Coordinators and Area Managers, which makes a big difference in day-to-day work. Camp Australia offers great opportunities for career growth, with regular training and upskilling available. Whether you're starting out or looking to grow into leadership roles, there is a clear pathway to progress. Work-life balance is another highlight — the flexibility of morning and afternoon shifts works well for those who need a balanced schedule. It’s especially helpful for students or parents.
The challengesLike any job, it comes with challenges. The role can be fast-paced, especially during peak times, and requires strong time management and the ability to adapt quickly. Working with children also means you need patience and the ability to handle a range of behaviours. But with the right mindset and support from the team, these challenges become opportunities to grow.

“A fun and caring place with room to grow and improve.”
The good thingsThe educators are always kind and helpful, and they make sure everyone feels included. I really enjoy the creative activities like arts and crafts, and the outdoor games are always exciting. There's always something different to do each day, so it never gets boring.
The challengesWhen children argue or fight. It can make the environment feel stressful or upsetting, especially if it happens during what’s supposed to be a fun activity. It can also take time away from others who are trying to enjoy themselves.
