Carbiz is Australia’s leading, award-winning provider of replacement cars that keep life moving when your car can’t. From humble beginnings in a converted garage with a handful of cars, Carbiz has since grown to support thousands of Australians in over 15 locations nationwide. We specialise in helping drivers who are not at fault get back on the road after an accident. We do so by delivering a car like yours to wherever you are and recovering the costs from the at-fault driver’s insurer. With the aim of assisting as many Australian drivers as possible, Carbiz has expanded its offerings beyond accident replacement cars to include warranty loan cars.

What’s it like working at Carbiz?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Carbiz appreciate the friendly and supportive team environment, with many highlighting that their colleagues make them look forward to work each day. Management is generally approachable and supportive of career development, and the company culture and values are lived throughout the organisation. Carbiz offers opportunities for growth and promotion, with particular support for students through flexible schedules and study assistance. Employees also enjoy various perks including monthly lunches, bonus incentives, company cars, team events, and modern facilities.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. Management approaches can vary across different areas, with some concerns about favouritism and inconsistent direction. As Carbiz has grown rapidly, some processes and systems are still being developed. The role can be demanding during busy periods, with expectations around availability that some find challenging. Some employees have noted that pay rates and compensation arrangements could be improved. Communication across teams is an area being actively worked on, and a few employees have observed that the workplace can feel cliquey at times, which may affect inclusion for some team members.

Good learning experience on how not too run a business
The good thingsThe limited staff we had, were great. It’s managers and higher up that make the job intolerable.
The challengesManagement pressure staff to work late. No overtime pay just “Time In Lieu”. However you get questioned if you have too much time in lieu. Managers also extremely hypocritical with directions and hide under the bracket of “job requirements can change at anytime”. You are also required to be actively checking work group chats over 4 hours after your work finish time with no additional pay. “Call out” pay is $100 flat (before tax) regardless of the job is 1 hour or 4 hours. Very demanding job for no gain at all. Internal promotion is based on who they like rather than skills acquired.

    Poor management and terrible pay
    The good thingsNothing much positive
The challengesPoor management: favouritism influences decisions made in the workplace Terrible play: pay increase only when you pass probation, or if you’ve been there for at least 5 years No recognition within the company either, only pick on negatives with employees

Not a good company to work for.
The good thingsHelping people get back in a car after an accident. Meeting lots of new people Driving newer model cars regularly
The challengesThey put on a front of teamwork and good vibes, but that's not the case. The Management is incompetent and very much not for employee rights. They lock young students into unfair contracts with low wages, glamorise unpaid work and make you disclose your personal details to customers regularly.
