What’s it like working at Carpet Call?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Carpet Call offers numerous advantages for employees, including strong career development opportunities and the ability to explore different roles within the company. The workplace culture is characterised by a friendly atmosphere and supportive colleagues, while the commission structure provides good earning potential for those who perform well. The company also invests in comprehensive training and provides necessary tools for success in sales roles.

However, employees face certain challenges, including the impact on work-life balance due to six-day work weeks and after-hours appointments. The sales targets and KPIs can be demanding, particularly during seasonal changes, and some employees note that communication from upper management could be enhanced. Additionally, staff sometimes struggle with managing multiple responsibilities, especially when covering for absent colleagues.

good career growth opportunities but you're often apologising for stuff out of your control
The good thingsHad fantastic opportunities to explore many different roles within the company, providing me with a very well-rounded education within a business setting. A lot of lovely people to work with and made many friends. There's also a staff lunch every month.
The challengesWhile there were a lot of lovely people, there's a rampant issue with a lot of adults who behave like teenagers. People often don't take accountability or ownership of mistakes and you're often expected to cover the work of absent co-workers (on top of your regular workload) without any thanks or reward. I once received a write-up for falling behind in my own job while trying to keep up with co-worker's jobs who were on holiday at the time.

The good thingsWorking with different Clientele and ability to manage and organize the store for better sales, ability to work with B2B clients
The challengesBeing a Rug Sales Representative, it gets a bit challenging when it comes to sales as when the season changes. Seasonal barrier

Good team, good managers, terrible upper management from head office in all departments.
The good thingsYour co-workers can be absolutely awesome! The managers across various stores have really helpful advice and you can really learn to love a lot of the team members. The customers can [mostly] be good too!
The challengesThe upper management is the worst part of this company. It's the reason I left to begin with. Everything was okay except them. All they care about is money to the extent that I would have customer issues not handled because I need to "Focus on sales", plus they don't nurture staff.
