good career growth opportunities but you're often apologising for stuff out of your control
The good thingsHad fantastic opportunities to explore many different roles within the company, providing me with a very well-rounded education within a business setting. A lot of lovely people to work with and made many friends. There's also a staff lunch every month.
The challengesWhile there were a lot of lovely people, there's a rampant issue with a lot of adults who behave like teenagers. People often don't take accountability or ownership of mistakes and you're often expected to cover the work of absent co-workers (on top of your regular workload) without any thanks or reward. I once received a write-up for falling behind in my own job while trying to keep up with co-worker's jobs who were on holiday at the time.

Overall it was a great experience to work with Carpet Call, ability to cover to other stores and work with different types of customer's mindset for the sales and to manage the store.
The good thingsWorking with different Clientele and ability to manage and organize the store for better sales, ability to work with B2B clients
The challengesBeing a Rug Sales Representative, it gets a bit challenging when it comes to sales as when the season changes. Seasonal barrier

Good team, good managers, terrible upper management from head office in all departments.
The good thingsYour co-workers can be absolutely awesome! The managers across various stores have really helpful advice and you can really learn to love a lot of the team members. The customers can [mostly] be good too!
The challengesThe upper management is the worst part of this company. It's the reason I left to begin with. Everything was okay except them. All they care about is money to the extent that I would have customer issues not handled because I need to "Focus on sales", plus they don't nurture staff.

Poor training, unsecured positions, low pay and unethical business models.
The good thingsVariety of information to take on and customers are lovely
The challenges- unattainable KPI’s - incredibly dated and unethical sales tactics - feeling of insecurity in your role - lower level employees are blamed for no incoming sales - incredibly low pay - infighting amongst all staff due to competition

I found that this company has a high turn over under three years employment of sales representatives on average. Management need to understand people's/ future employees sales back grounds in a lot more detail asking more probing questions, so that they match colour/ fabric consulting skills better to a persons prior experiences. If people are not interior design focused then its a round peg trying to fit into a square hole scenario.
The good thingsLarge flooring company that knows its position in the market. As a sales representative they provide all the tools of trade to do the job, however this is not a building supplies company in the tradition sense of raw materials.
The challengesThe skills required in sales roles for both genders in this company needs to be highlighted with day to day duties before employing people. The products are interior design carpets/ flooring however the management does not understand that potential sales employees need to have a good appreciation prior and like of interior design products. Their products are not building products but interior furnishings. An understanding of colours and fabric selections - is a must, more suited to a colour consultant type of person is required.

Top management may be ok, but if you are not from a particular region, you will find hard to get along.
The good thingsNot much about sale role.
The challenges- Manager put up my most of all sales under another sale rep to make commission. - Manager saw, I have better sales skills, so was blocked to serve customers and all the time and was sent out of the store for check measures for the sales done by others. In a week, I was given one or two chances to serve customers. - ARM is good but too dependent on one store manager, did not bother to communicate about performance or any other points.

They want you to run before you can crawl, without industry knowledge this is tough, as they pay minimum they wont actually obtain anyone with the skill as those people want to be paid what they are worth. which is why they had such a young management team I'd imagine. Little to no communication, training gaps for everyone, because the staff turnover is quite high
The good thingsYour peers, the contractors are friendly and the customers
The challengesSmall management team of 20 something year olds, and and absent upper management with little to no communication skills, jus left the younger ones to it.

I was only working there for 15 months, but felt like working for 7 to 8 years. The experience I had with CC had benefited my life! Will recommend anyone to work there, just not for too long.
The good thingsYou learn the carpet call way! Carpet Call is a very good start for people want to do sales for career, management are tough but you learn a lot in sales as well as dealing with working under high pressure.
The challengesLong hours, always work on Saturday and Sunday, after hour appointments, dealing with management when miss a sale. Impossible to do the job when having family and children.

The good thingsGreat commission, great friends. Autonomy.
The challengesHaving things out of my control influence my weekly commission such as international issues influencing stock across the board for instance - (this is not a reflection of the company per se as it affects the construction industry as a whole).
