    Very demoralising workplace
The good thingsGood relationships built with colleagues
The challenges• High staff turnover (30 employees during my time with the company) • Excessive micro management • Directors emphasised that the only thing that makes a business successful is profitability • Unequal treatment of staff • Limited training provided despite high expectations • Communication was either non existant or inconsistent • Meetings, interviews and appointments were more often than not delayed or rescheduled • Policies and workflows were frequently changed without clear operational benefit (or again, communication) • Expectation of completing tasks outside of job description • Phones and bags not allowed on you but no lockers provided • Very small kitchen / no lunch room • No parking available for staff or patients

The good thingsI enjoyed my team I worked in.
The challengesWorking here was an extremely stressful and negative period in my career. I often felt that effort and professionalism were not consistently recognised unless it was directly linked to revenue outcomes and sale success. I also found the management style to be highly hands-on, with frequent changes to policies and processes. At times this created uncertainty around expectations and made it difficult to feel confident in my role from day to day. There also appeared to be inconsistency in how policies were applied across staff. This created a perception of favouritism and left me feeling that expectations were not always fair or evenly enforced. This workplace also had an appearance-focused culture that negatively impacted my wellbeing. I felt pressure to meet certain presentation standards, which contributed to anxiety and affected my confidence outside of work. After resigning, I felt there was a noticeable shift in how I was treated, and communication became minimal.

The best clinic I have ever worked at.
The good thingsSuch a supportive environment, led by directors with a deep philosophy of continuing professional development and nurturing workplace culture.
The challengesIt's a very busy clinic, with many practitioners. Clinicians travel from around the world to learn from the practice. As such, initially getting into the pace of the clinic was interesting having come from a small practice, but in the end amazingly rewarding.
