Teambuilding needs to be worked on
The good thingsFindex as a corporate company, and my prior manager supported me where needed. The partners always made a point of catching up and greeting when they came into the office to attend to their meetings.
The challengesBeing a small office you tend to feel very isolated as Front of House Role. I found it difficult to get along with certain personalities within the office, and although I did try my best, it was for my best interest mentally to rather resign and seek other employment.

The nice office is very appealing but look elsewhere.
The good thingsThe building is nice. Administrative support from the East Coast is great.
The challengesNot a good experience. Managers are odd; more fixated on the fact they provide office snacks than actually providing training, which they think makes the company special. Passive aggressive comments made if you don't know something you literally haven't been shown yet. Sulking when employees resign and refusing to acknowledge or speak to them. The processes are ridiculous - literally needing to stat every task completed, even if it takes two minutes. Far too many systems are used. Hot desking is outdated and inefficient.

If you have other options then take them.
The good thingsMy immediate reports being based in Sydney/ Melbourne.
The challengesInexperienced senior management. An unsupportive environment. Junior administration staff with too much authority.

Toxic management at all levels, especially lower and mid-tier managers on a power trip.
The good thingsYou realise you can't possibly work for a worse organisation.
The challengesManagement truly believe they are universally loved by their employees, as the sycophants that surround them assure them they are. These are the deranged delusions that usually form in dictators.

Career Progression and Flexible Work Week
The good thingsAt Findex I've been able to grow my career from Client Services (administration) to Partner. I've been given the opportunity to work with a broad spectrum of clients and make a meaningful impact on their financial security. The compressed work week provides flexibility and improves work life balance.
The challengesChange management could be improved.

Recruitment conversations accurately reflect work days.
The good thingsA fantastic work culture, with transparent direction and efforts to improve - both the firm and the industry. Everything that was discussed during recruitment about the role and goals has been honoured. There is genuine flexibility in the working arrangements and efforts from leaders to ensure people are given the best opportunity to succeed.
The challengesThe open plan office can be a struggle with noise if you are not familiar which such arrangements (however there are private locations within the office, and flexible WFH to counteract this)

The good thingsGenuine Flexibility, Compressed fortnight, strong capability across the organisation, commitment to clients and communities you don't see elsewhere. Focus on innovation and growth. Lots of opportunities.
The challengesChange management - there is fabulous and exciting work underway but sometimes more time and thought needs to be given to the change mgt program.

At a grad conference one of the "big wigs" told us to be humble enough not to accept a pay rise
    The good thingsEAP services, location
The challengesMicro management, meetings with HR over 4% variance in productivity, being told knee length dresses are too short, being gossiped about over Teams, given jobs that have taken 25 hours in prior years and being told my budget is 8 hours, having to build new relationships with staff constantly as turnover is so high, colleagues having to take their laptops with them when they have a family emergency, being told I have to stay late and make up time for printing off one page of something personal, no morning tea or afternoon tea breaks, not being paid overtime in busy season. There's more but you get the idea.

    Mediocrity is my name
The good things9 days per fortnight - every other Friday was a Flexi Friday! That's it.
The challengesConstant re-structuring: between my interview and starting the role, my reporting line changed. Instead of reporting to the Managing Partner, I ended up reporting to a micro-managing vamp. Instead of effecting improvements (for which I was ostensibly hired), every recommendation was resisted and belittled. Mediocrity is the name of the game here. If you have an idea for improvement, keep it to yourself. It's NOT appreciated.

Based on experience: toxic and sinister. Genuine attempts to retain talent should be made instead of prioritising image.
The good thingsSome of the people can be genuinely lovely and competent. Great amenities.
The challengesThe incentives management are given result in the churn and burn of grads. Unfortunately, quite a toxic culture. Overall, not worth it.

Avoid. Other people’s bad attitudes and general depression will make you down.
The good thingsFree coffee machine, free water and snacks.
The challengesManagement was a joke. A made up little hierarchy to make themselves feel important and to belittle others with. One nice girl in the whole office but job was boring and pay was below most other companies. Good until something better comes up.

Numerous career opportunities, hybrid working, decent people
The good thingsSupportive team, plenty of opportunities across various service lines, from Admin, Accounting, Wealth Management right through to People and Culture/HR. Work/Life balance - working from home options.
The challengesAs with every workplace it only takes one person to be toxic and ruin it for the majority, so when there's more than one it can be quite challenging. However, this being said these types rarely last the distance and with the support of the rest of the team those challenges can be overcome. Expectations can outweigh salary and I feel Findex does not meet the market where this is concerned. They're at least a year behind.

My time here has been really beneficial. I have learnt a lot about Financial services and have increased my technical skills tenfold. They have trusted me to tackle projects and appreciated me for my expertise and experence. I love the flexibility to work from home.
The good thingsThe team I work with fantastic, always there to back each other up. There is always something changing/happening at Findex and I enjoy this.
The challengesSystems are a challenge at times. Being part of a large organisation with a footprint across 100 offices over Australia and NZ, can be challenging as each person/location has individual needs.

Opportunity to grow with flexibility in where you work
The good thingsBusiness growth through acquisition that has opened opportunities for me to grow with the business. Started in Client Services and in a business of 50 people that has grown to 2500 today across Australia and NZ. Over 17 years have had a variety of opportunities to work with different clients, teams, geographies and areas of the business (Operations, HR, Marketing etc). Maintaining remote working has been a big plus for me as a new father with flexibility agreed with my manager on when to come into the office for collaboration with my colleagues
The challengesGrowth through acquisition has cultural challenges, particularly with a diverse group across Australia and New Zealand and in capital city / regional areas. Experience for individuals will be highly dependent on the capability of the local leader

Good place to start your career but too comfortable and lack of career progression for long term.
The good thingsSome nice people. Investment in IT software make some downloading and uploading more time efficient. Working from home.
The challengesLack of support from direct manager. Overall low budget for job and high productivity requirement require a lot of overtime.

No work/life balance, toxic management, below average salary.
The good thingsFriendly colleagues, WFH flexibility, streamlined processes.
The challengesI joined Findex with enthusiasm, hoping for a fulfilling career path. However, my time here has been marred by several disheartening experiences that have significantly impacted my job satisfaction. Despite my dedication and loyalty to the company, the management's approach has been deeply disappointing. Instances of micromanagement and the failure to honor promises. This unfulfilled promise was brought up in subsequent meetings, only to be denied without valid explanations. Moreover, the dismissive attitude of the management towards questions during the learning process made it challenging to grow professionally. Rather than fostering a supportive environment, it felt like asking questions was viewed as incompetence. These experiences have not only affected my productivity but have also taken a toll on my morale. It's disheartening to see potential growth stifled by broken assurances and an unsupportive work culture. I earnestly hope that Findex can reevaluate its management style and communication practices to create a more conducive and respectful work environment for its employees. Transparent communication, fair recognition for loyalty, and a supportive learning atmosphere could significantly enhance the overall employee experience.

The good thingsMy team was great, other teams were not. It really depends on the people.
The challengesSalary. Below average and they try to not discuss this if possible. They want you to just accept what they've put forward. This isn't the local managers decision its the people who sit in fancy offices in the city.

Great culture and pleased to be working here. Could see myself working here for a long time.
The good thingsThe business started from a family business and still has this feeling, with strong passion and loyalty evident. Senior leaders are extremely giving of their time, welcoming and respectful. Great culture where people genuinely care and want to make a difference. They have some great technical capability even compared to some bigger organisations and are willing to invest in people. This is evident in the internal movement and promotion of people that high performers.
The challengesHigh volume activity which makes it hard to prioritise and can at times mean finding balance is hard when you are care about what you are doing and the quality of your work. Not different to other companies mind you. This is a maturing business so not all things are perfect but that also brings opportunity to create change and feel you are contributing to improvement. Good size company to be big enough but also still feel agile to make investment and decisions in things.

The good thingsManagement are incredibly loyal to those that have gone the extra mile. They reward with an amazing level of trust and support. Office culture is great.
The challengesThere used to be a significant number of concurrent and competing priorities, but this has reduced significantly with a restructured management team.
