What’s it like working at Goulburn Workers Club?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Goulburn Workers Club appreciate the opportunities to work in different areas, the variety of work that keeps things interesting, and the supportive higher management. They also value the positive work environment where they can make long-term friends and work in great teams. The club is seen as supportive of work/life balance, such as accommodating maternity leave.

However, as with many hospitality roles, there are challenges like long shifts on their feet, late nights/early mornings, and dealing with aggressive patrons at times. Casual employees may face inconsistent shift allocation depending on the time of year. Some reviewers also mentioned high school drama among colleagues, and one felt they didn't get opportunities to learn and grow in their position.

I grew up with Goulburn Workers. From early to late 20's I started as a bartender and trained in all areas and eventually became a manager. You get out what you put in. If you are transparent with the bosses about hours, abilities and wants they will treat you kind in return. There is a lot of training that is available especially in a new area of the club. Alot of the staff have worked there for many years which i believe is a good sign. Its also a good job to meet friends and earn some good money whilst doing so. Go in with an open mind, expectations to work rotating shifts ranging from 9am to 3.30am and some grit and you'll get the most out of it.
The good thingsYou can work your way into different areas of the club. you never have the same day twice so it is always interesting, the regular patrons are lovely. Higher management and the board are incredibly kind and understanding.
The challengesThe usual things that come with hospitality work. High school drama. Long shifts on your feet. Aggressive patrons, Late nights and early mornings. If you are a casual it could also be lack of shifts or too many depending on the time of year.

Only care about turnover, not staff.
The good thingsMake great friends, patrons can be great
The challengesThey don’t care about you as a staff member, only about the poker machines and anyone, staff or patron, that walks through their doors is just a number.
