Rum way and save your energy for the right company,
The good thingsBeen way from the office,
The challengesBad place to work. A toxic culture driven by new management who lack understanding of the business and the food industry, relying on irrelevant past experience that doesn’t translate to selling pies or understanding client and distributor challenges. Products are launched at national trade shows with no stock, pre-orders delayed for months, and no marketing support. Targets are unrealistic and set to fail, created to look good in management meetings but far removed from reality. Bonuses are promised and never delivered, credit is taken for others’ ideas, blame is shifted for poor decisions, and there are no systems or support. All about appearances, lipstick on a piggy. That results in extremely high turnover due to toxic and incompetent leadership.

Horrific experience - dont do it.
The good thingsSome of the office team helped create a supportive environment
The challengesMy experience at Mrs Mac’s was overwhelmingly negative due to the deeply toxic culture fostered by management. The business operates without any meaningful strategy or clear direction, and decisions are made on a whim without any communication to the broader team. Management set unrealistic and constantly shifting expectations with little to no support or resources provided—then blame individuals when impossibilities aren’t achieved. The lack of transparency and trust means staff are frequently undermined, gaslit, or pushed aside without explanation. It is common for staff to leave within three months. The sales team turns over every 6 months. People don’t leave jobs, they leave managers. In this case, that statement couldn’t be more true. There is no consistency in applying expectations or ways of working across the team with some having access to hybrid working and others not. Until there is genuine accountability at a leadership level, this pace will remain a revolving door.

My experience with this pie company has been deeply disappointing. The management is disorganized and lacks any real sense of direction. Despite the CEO’s clear vision for quality and fresh ingredients, what happens on the ground is the complete opposite. Frozen meat is routinely blended with fresh meat—directly contradicting company policy and compromising product integrity. This not only deceives customers but also reflects serious ethical concerns within the operational team. Internally, the company is still relying on outdated systems—critical data and operations are managed entirely through Excel, which leads to inefficiencies, constant errors, and no real accountability. On top of that, training is virtually nonexistent. New hires are thrown into their roles with little to no support, making it difficult to meet expectations or maintain standards. There’s a clear disconnect between leadership and daily operations. Until serious changes are made to enforce accountability.
The good thingsStaff discount on pies.
The challengesWorking with this company has been a frustrating experience due to extremely poor management practices. There's a complete lack of structure, and decisions often seem arbitrary or reactionary.
