The benefits of working the public service are good, no doubt, but they're NOT WORTH IT IN THIS ORGANISATION!! Barely escaped with my sanity.
The good thingsI did meet a few good people that I call friends now.
The challengesHorrid toxic culture. I worked there 6 years and still felt like an outsider in the greater organisation. It is deeply, deeply political and those driving it are completely obsessed with their own optics. Was routinely thrown under the bus for issues that had noting to do with me.

The people and the work is good, but avoid management whenever you can.
The good thingsMost of the staff are passionate about what they do. Flex time arrangement is excellent.
The challengesManagement are at best incompetent, at worst actively hostile.

Great people who are good-humoured and committed.
The good thingsThe variety of work each day. The commitment of staff to their roles and going above and beyond to get the work done. I haven't met a person I haven't liked yet.
The challengesThe constant change. Changing minds, changing priorities and the temporary nature of a lot of jobs.
