The Northern Territory, sometimes referred to as ‘the last frontier’ has a (permanent) police history dating from 1870 when Inspector Paul Foelsche and six other police officers arrived in the Territory.A small rural constabulary (part time force) had existed earlier but was disbanded. That Territory was then under South Australian control and the town of Palmerston now the city of Darwin was founded by William George Goyder – Surveyor General of South Australia. In December 1869, the Governor commissioned Paul Foelsche, a Corporal in the SA Mounted Police stationed at Strathalbyn, to be the first Sub-Inspector of Police at Palmerston. He sailed for Darwin soon afterwards.Source: This is an extract from the company's own website.

Never again, not worth the good pay
The good thingsEvery job is different, good pay
The challengesManagement are bullys, hiring 18 year olds who care about drinking more than caring for people. Work hard and you get more work to make up for those who are lazy. Hard to get out of General Duties

A 20 year adventure - A second to none experience.
The good thingsThe are many 'jobs' within the the 'job' - it keeps you inspired to try new things without walking away from your career. The skills you acquire within the NT Police Force will enable you to tackle many challenges in private industry. The incentives and benefits are second to none (not many know this but I would have done the job for less money!).
The challengesThe work can prove challenging at times for your family - it is important you go into such a career with the support of your family. That said, it is important you do all you can to support them through the process.
