Used to be such a great place to work, with great staff and reasonable management. So focussed on how much money one can generate per hour that they’ve forgotten that patient care should be the main focus. Won’t get any better as surplus of Optometrists means they will continue to try and get rid of more experienced practitioners to bring in cheaper graduates. The good things Helping people see, some great colleagues, staff allowance
The challengesThe constant focus on KPIs and pressure to sell. Extremely high staff turnover. Poor training of new staff members. Poor Dispenser to Optometrist ratio and therefore staff burn out. Micromanaging, questioning of professional advice. No admin time for Optometrists to do referrals or catch up. So much time theft, as these duties then fall out of hours.
