    Worst experience ever
The good thingssome of the other staff are nice
The challengesThe manager is the worst person I have ever come across. She is so rude and mean. Minimal training was given and she just expected me to know what to do and then reprimanded me in front of other staff and customers if I got something wrong. She also didn't like it if I asked for any help when I was unsure of something and stated that I should know the answer after doing a day of online training! Worst environment, zero support and when I raised this with head office after I left they dismissed my concerns too. I have worked in high stress / busy environments in hospitality and this treatment was just crazy! Definitely stay away!

    Avoid application burnout is imminent
The good thingsZero. There wasn't anything good about working here.
The challengesWesfarmers do not protect or take care of their staff. They take sides and aren't professional. They make workers work hard until burnout so they resign so that they don't have to pay out any leave. Would never recommend a Priceline as a workplace. No work life balance.

    Wastful, zero support
The good thingsA lot of great things to learn Staff are mostly nice to work with ih
The challengesZero support for staff, overworking and mentally draining zero acknowledgement for hard work and severely underpaid, doesn't care if staff sit on their phones hiding away from customers doing no work related duties and leaving it up to the Manager to do all the work, and getting scolded when bringing it up.

The challengesThe manager sucks so hard, she’s egotistical, rude, passive aggressive and the worst manager I’ve ever had.

Soul destroying especially when you really want to work. This place is not worth the effort
The good thingsSome staff are good. Nice shop Customers are nice
The challengesManager seemed inexperienced and not up to the job and treats staff like rubbish. No respect shown to workers but expects people to come in at her beck and call. Casuals do not get casual loading or public holiday penalties. Shop is filthy. Store room is always a mess

Traumatising and hell-like experience, I would not wish it on my enemies - major red flag
The good thingsWorking with some lovely staff who equally understand the struggle and poor management. Various food options around the pharmacy, if that counts
The challengesPoor management with unrealistic, high expectations and low willingness to invest in staff. Staff are considered temporary and disposable, as interviews are conducted each week with no job security. A toxic environment that leaves multiple staff members with mental distress

Revolving door of staff. Competent staff often taken for granted, and upper management tends to micro-manage, leading to a sense of decreased motivation across the team due to a perceived lack of trust/confidence. However, the Priceline system itself is great to work in if it is well managed.
The good thingsI quite like most of the things about the Priceline model itself, and all of the company procedural tasks are really straightforward and easy to execute well. So much so, that upon leaving this position, I got one at a different Priceline store. I'd recommend working at a Priceline in general, however I would not necessarily recommend working at this particular store. Most of the staff I worked with at this store were lovely, and we were often able to make difficult situations work smoothly. This store has a great Retail Manager, and if her priorities weren't overriden by the owners', important tasks wouldn't be put off in favour of others that are arguably less crucial, and the priorities and expectations would be much clearer . Retail Manager and other staff were generally extremely communicative and it generally felt like we could rely on each other to get things done. Unfortunately, that is not always enough to offset the underlying toxic workplace culture present at this store.
The challengesHigh degree of inconsistency and micromanagement from Franchise Partners/Owners, although this was usually mitigated by the Retail Manager. Many competing expectations. Top priorities not always clear, or, more accurately, top priorities changed often enough that it was sometimes difficult to determine (mostly relevant for cases where you have to choose certain tasks over others due to constraints). This overall lack of clear direction was often the driving force behind staff *not* wanting to take initiative, because some choices felt like a catch-22. Owner would complain of lack of initiative, and then when someone would try to take initiative, they would be told to prioritise something else instead, even when the staff could foresee that putting off a certain task would create more issues later. Owners lack accountability and acceptance of criticism. This store also has ongoing staff issues where they struggle to retain competent staff. These are not issues at my new Priceline store.

Profit comes first, customers second, staff don't even rate on their scale of concernsMost micromanaging business I have ever worked for. Asking one thing of you, then move the goal post when you do what they ask and gaslight saying they never asked you to do something in the first place. Nothing you do will ever be right or good enough for them. Zero genuine concern for anyone - not even customers, let alone their own staff. Because it's franchises, some owners would rather the customer leave frustrated and empty-handed than putting in the effort to check other stores so that other owners don't get "their" sale. Four months working for this company did more damage to my health mentally and physically than years with other corporations. Every day I'd arrive dreading the day and end the day crying in my car as I go home. I'd rather be unemployed and broke than ever work for these selfish people.

    A complete nightmare.
The good thingsThe best part about my time at Priceline was being able to quit. The relief of not having to return there was fantastic.
The challengesRude management, lack of acknowledgment for my hard work. Being forced to perform management duties whilst getting paid base retail award rate. Being in charge of opening/closing the store without the presence of management.

A lot of new skills were gained. However, expectations need to be more realistic and work/life balance needs to be considered. The staunch customer/profits first needs to be relaxed.
The good thingsThe role itself was rewarding. It was a role that allowed a lot of room to grow, there was a lot to learn and I gained a lot of new skills. There was an opportunity for growth and progression. Everyday was not the same there was always something to do. Working in the city was fast paced and the lunch rush made the time go really fast. Being in the city you met a lot of different people. With Priceline being a franchise, it gives you an advantage when applying for jobs at other stores in the future.
The challengesThere was a level of staff turnover that was less than ideal so had to often train new staff. For my specific role there was a lot I had to do each day, this was besides serving customers. Every fortnight a new catalogue had to be prepped and set up throughout the pharmacy. I had to also spend more time than ideal assisting the beauty advisor in setting up of the catalogue. The high standards and militant timeframes for completing tasks, in my opinion were un-realistic. There was at times conflicting and contradictory instructions. The pharmacist in charge is very hardlined and had high expectations. There was constant feedback which in theory sounds good, but the feedback was only about what you did wrong or what you could improve on. There was very little to no positive re-enforcement. The company/network/franchisee have a very staunch profits/customer first mindset. If customers were not approached in 5 seconds you got told off. The work life balance was less than ideal. I had to work almost every Saturday and there was no flexibility in this. It would have been nice if other people could take turns working on Saturdays. Not sure if the above are company related or franchisee/network related. My advice to this company/store would be to: Allow some leeway when it comes to completing tasks Be consistent with operational policies Put more staff on for catalogue set up When giving feedback do the compliment sandwich, Positive Constructive Positive. Try to ensure that the one person is not working every single Saturday train others up on how to open and close.

B ully environment not a nice place to work at Priceline forest hill
The good thingsA few nice co-workers, freebies from reps.
The challengesWorking with nasty people. Can’t ask for help some co workers get frustrated because they don’t want to help you, so no good if you are unsure on something and need to ask for assistance. If you are learning don’t bother coming here there’s not many people willing to help you to learn. Lots of high school type behaviours not a nice place to work.
