What’s it like working at Steel-Line Garage Doors?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Steel-Line Garage Doors appreciate the supportive colleagues and strong sense of teamwork, particularly among frontline and warehouse staff who work well together despite challenges. The working hours are regular with no weekend work, providing a predictable schedule, and the company offers paid birthday leave and a wellness day, along with occasional team lunches.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. Upper management and leadership are areas where employees feel there could be more visibility, accessibility, and support. Understaffing means employees often manage workloads across multiple roles, and training and development opportunities are limited. Compensation is noted as below market average with infrequent increases, and communication between departments could be strengthened. Additionally, systems and processes may require updating, and priorities and objectives can shift regularly, creating some uncertainty around targets and rewards.

The good thingsLocal team were supportive, good friendships made
The challengesHead office continually moving goal posts and objectives. Continually changing the targets and rewards scheme to their benefit. Change in upper management made it a very unpleasant place to work at, consistent empty promises, limited support and understaffing which they expected other staff to do multiple roles.

    Do not work for them.
The good thingsThere are none. If it wasn't for my loyalty to my customers, I would have left when everyone else had.

    DIVERSTY, INCLUSION, FAIRNESS, EQUALITY
The good thingsThe factory staff are an excellent bunch of people to work with. Everyone on the floor understands the issues that come from higher up, so are supportive of each other. The safety assistant tries his hardest to keep us all happy & healthy but is also stonewalled from higher up. We get our birthday as paid leave & also a paid "wellness" day - because we NEED that one. We very occasionally get a lunch provided.
The challengesVery stagnant workplace. No care from upper management regarding workplace concerns, everything is swept under the rug. Long term, qualified employees aren't even given the chance for advancement, the promotions are handed to the family members & boot lickers (with not even an interview process) - not those who've proven themselves for 15+ years. Conflicts of interest are rampant here. Finding out the one manager you actually trusted turns out to be exactly like the rest. "Offboarding" exit questionnaire is sent immediately upon resignation, but the issues raised in that questionnaire could've been sorted beforehand - As with everything I've written as my summary - it's all for appearances only. This workplace will mess with your self-esteem, physical & mental health more than it's worth.
