For over 70 years, Sunnyfield has been a pioneer in the delivery of community support, education, employment, and accommodation for people with intellectual disability. The founders of Sunnyfield wanted to create a place where their children with intellectual disability could live, learn, work, have fun and get support when they needed it. That purpose remains in our DNA. We create a place where both clients and employees can grow and belong. Today, Sunnyfield delivers support services for nearly 2000 people with disability, including children, teenagers and adults. Our staff don’t just work here, they belong here.

What’s it like working at Sunnyfield?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Sunnyfield consistently highlight that working with clients is the most rewarding aspect of the role, bringing joy and meaning to their work. Staff appreciate their colleagues, describing them as supportive and helpful with strong teamwork. The organisation's mission and values are valued, with employees finding it rewarding to work for a not-for-profit supporting people with disabilities. Many describe the culture as positive with a person-centred approach, and the salary packaging benefits are seen as a valuable perk.

However, there are some potential challenges, including management support and communication varying across different teams and locations. Some staff have experienced difficulty securing adequate work hours or obtaining shifts. Administrative systems and processes can be clunky with considerable paperwork, which is typical of the disability sector. Recent organisational changes have impacted some employees' work-life balance, and communication between departments could be improved for better coordination across the organisation.

difficult and not worth the time
The good thingsClients were amazing always had a good time working with clients
The challengesworking with both management to ensure i was working adequate hours was a struggle, left being told "theres nothing we can do, theres no hours to give", when they just onboarded multiple new staff who all seemily have over 20 hours/week

More concerned with keeping clients than actually improving their lives - zero loyalty for staff.
The good thingsthey do offer salary packaging.
The challengesMore coporate than caring. Zero loyalty. clueless upper management put far too much pressure on middle management (team leaders). More concerned with keeping clients than actually improving their lives. Clients with more funding or rich parents get special treatment. All the "support" and perks are nonsense, I remember telling HR that their EAP (workplace psycology) was unhelpful and that all the staff i asked said the same thing, their response was that i had "missunderstood the nature of the service". They will ask for extra unpaid work, taking advantage of staff kindness.
