What’s it like working at Toowong Private Hospital?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Toowong Private Hospital appreciate the supportive and experienced team, particularly the nurses who help guide new staff members. The hospital offers flexibility in terms of shift preferences and the ability to adjust schedules as needed. There are opportunities for growth and career advancement within the company, and management is described as approachable and supportive. The hospital provides numerous education services and adequate clinical supervision for employees, and there are plentiful opportunities for extra hours, shifts, and overtime. The patient-centred nursing care plan makes employees feel valued while ensuring the best health outcomes for patients.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. The work environment can be demanding for those new to nursing or the mental health field. Dealing with patients with certain disorders can be challenging and frustrating for clinicians at times. The constant flow of new patients in and out of the private inpatient setting can also be frustrating for some clinicians. At times, employees may feel overworked and undervalued, depending on staffing numbers and ratios. As with any nursing role, there is a risk of burnout if employees do not monitor their health and workload appropriately. A genuine interest and passion for mental health nursing is required, as the job can be challenging if one does not have this. Additionally, new employees may need some time to adjust to the fast-paced work environment and performance speed expected.

    Awesome place to work
The good thingsIf you enjoy being busy, then this is the place for you - there was always something to do. You are left to get things completed with your team mates and you do share the workload, which was good. There are procedures to be followed but they lay this out well - checklists etc to be done by certain times. Management were awesome - they would always allow me to adjust shifts if I had uni things come up. Lovely friendly team to work with/for.
The challengesBeing new, it takes a little while to adjust to the performance speed of other team members - e.g. getting all the dishes cleaned after meals by a certain time. But you do get faster as you find your way around the job.
