What’s it like working at Touch Football Australia?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Touch Football Australia benefits from talented and passionate staff who are committed to their work, particularly at the entry level. Employees appreciate the level of work autonomy and ability to contribute to national strategy, along with flexible working arrangements and opportunities for outdoor work.

However, there are areas for improvement, including the need for better communication and transparency from senior management. The organisation faces challenges with non-competitive salaries relative to workload, limited organisational structure for staff development, and restricted career progression opportunities outside of Canberra. Staff have also noted high turnover rates and the need for more structured support systems.

Toxic Leadership Team with no idea!
The good thingsThe organisation is supported by many talented and committed individuals, particularly at the entry level.
The challengesThe current leadership culture is highly self-serving, with limited transparency and a lack of trust. Key decisions are often made behind closed doors, with minimal communication to staff. There is little structured training or support provided, yet expectations remain high. This environment can be demoralising, and I would not recommend the organisation to others based on my experience.

Started with promise, but lost its way under new leadership of CEO
The good thingsSome genuinely amazing people, especially in the entry-level positions. But staff are overworked, underpaid, and expected to meet high demands without the right resources or structure in place. Salaries are extremely low compared to workload and responsibility, unless in a Senior Manager position.
The challengesRoom for improvement in how staff are supported and how communication flows from the top down. There’s little to no structure, despite a number of strategic planing meetings with no results, just for show, which makes it hard to feel set up for success. Transparency from CEO needs to be much stronger! Decisions often come without explanation, and turnover has been very high under the new CEO’s management, with several key and long-term staff departing. The CEO and GM's seem more focused on ticking boxes and maintaining appearances than actually leading or supporting their teams. Internal communication is inconsistent, meetings are often cancelled last minute or not followed up, and genuine empathy and accountability are lacking at their level. The organisation would really benefit from rebuilding a culture where people feel valued, heard, and supported because there are some amazing, hard-working staff at the ground level who truly care about what they do and deserve better leadership.

The challengesThe team are spread out across Australia so can't see everyone face to face often, but we find ways to still connect.
