What’s it like working at Universal Magazines?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Universal Magazines fosters a welcoming culture with friendly colleagues who provide mentorship and career development opportunities. Employees appreciate the diverse workload across multiple brands, the autonomous working environment that allows ownership of their work, and the company's investment in digital transformation.

However, some potential challenges include the need for more time to learn about the industry to further develop skills, concerns about low salaries and lack of raises or promotions for additional workload, difficulties in adapting to industry changes, particularly in the digital sphere, heavy workloads due to small teams and critical staff not being replaced, and the challenge of prioritising opportunities and learning quickly during the digital transition.

A creative, passionate and friendly environment to work in.
The good thingsEveryone was welcoming, friendly and wanted to help you.
The challengesMore time to grow and learn about the industry would have helped to further develop my skills moving forward.

Good for a diverse workload and to learn a lot, but isn’t sustainable long term typically.
The good thingsMentorship. Career development. People. The actual work was enjoyable (for me). Diverse workload due to the small teams. Most of these positives were because of the team I worked in and is different for everyone. It’s a relaxed office where management is typically a bit flexible, but intense workload.
The challengesVery poor salary. Management keeps adding work to people with no extra raise or promotion, simply to “upskill”. A bit old-fashioned and hard to progress.
