Wren Oil is a great place to gain knowledge and practice a trade and has set me up for the new job.
The good thingsOver the 4 years of my apprenticeship i gained a heavy understanding and knowledge in the heavy welding and fabrication scene through getting jobs to complete, speaking to co-workers on how to tackle jobs and from my supervisor offering his thoughts and knowledge of the trade. i enjoyed working with others and getting work outside of my trade. each week was usualy spontanious.
The challengesThe lack of planning on accessions making a job or task take longer to complete or just complicate things. Other co-workers causing slight friction in the work environment.

Good Colleagues, Culture needs a lot of work.
The good thingsThere are good people at ground level who are very capable and great at their job, supportive colleagues who genuinely try to do the right thing despite the environment.
The challengesThe biggest issue is leadership and a toxic workplace culture. Management often lacks transparency, consistency, and accountability, and decisions can feel reactive and poorly communicated. There’s a clear inner circle in the company. Employees in this group get more support, flexibility, and opportunities, while those outside often feel overlooked and are treated inconsistently. Staff turnover is high, mostly driven by gossip and negative commentary from leadership. This creates mistrust, low morale, and a toxic environment. Until leadership steps up and takes responsibility for the workplace culture, keeping good people is going to be really difficult.
