Why study this course

This program allows students to specialise in Journalism, Media Industries, Sport Journalism or Public Relations. Students will practice writing and producing stories for different audiences across formats such as video, audio, and online platforms including blogs. They will also develop skills in using social media, and learning how audiences are challenging and changing today's media landscape. The third-year internship offers hands-on experience relevant to the chosen major. Lecturers include industry professionals from a range of media backgrounds. Depending on which majors are chosen, students will work in La Trobe's on-campus strategic communications agency, contribute to their publication, and have access to the latest AV production equipment.

I felt as though the course didn't meet up with what was written on the website. There was initially too much practical at a time when theory was needed.

Student review
The ABMC at La Trobe is amazing. It is a hands on, practical, innovative course taught by a great balance of academics and industry professionals. The ASSC Loans department have great equipment available to students and are extremely knowledgable. The staff go above and beyond to provide students more hands-on help and have 24 hour facilities to help students that are “crammers”. Compared to what I have heard of other ABMC courses, La Trobe’s is by far the best. I have received offers from industry jobs thanks to the great relationships made with staff and colleagues at La Trobe. I definately recommend this course at LTU.
