The core units you complete will prepare you to undertake a range of administrative tasks and provide support to business functions. You'll learn to maintain business resources, write simple documents, organise schedules and use inclusive work practices. You'll also learn to communicate in the workplace, assist with maintaining workplace health and safety and apply critical thinking skills. The electives you complete will depend on the institution you choose to study with.
Typically, there are no educational prerequisites for this course. Some institutions may set their own requirements for entry, which could include having basic computer skills and/or meeting set literacy and numeracy standards. In some instances, you may be able to complete this course as part of a traineeship which would allow you to complete the course while employed in a relevant position.
This course prepares you for entry-level positions where you'll be required to perform routine administrative tasks. It's a good pathway into roles such as Administration Assistant, Office Administrator, Receptionist, Personal Assistant or Data Entry Operator.
