I applied for the scholarship for the Diploma units in the Bachelor of Dementia Care. I did not have a specific job or role in mind but was keen to learn more after completing their MOOCS. All of the study was online and therefore heavily theory based - not practical in nature. The lecturers were very knowledgeable. The LMS was well managed and easy to navigate. All of the units have a dementia focus so the assessments are specific to the identification or management of the condition.

The course is a very practical one and cannot be found in all Universities. It is very practical oriented and it is very realistic to the real life situation. I had the confidence to work in the dementia sector but denied opportunity in my organization. The teacher and coordinators were very helpful when you get stuck even when you need help of complete your assignment. They guide us and the University is fully sourced to help students who have no basic knowledge of writing and reading. But I found that when we have presentation and live discussion the participants are very few due to individual schedule. Everyone watches the recording and comments through the course chat room. The experience of individuals are shared and guidelines given to all. I would recommend everyone who works in the health industry to study if they have time to do as the government is offering to pay the fees for us. It will help people living with dementia and they are increasing in number.
