What will I learn?

The core units you complete will build the key skills needed to work in libraries or with large volumes of information. You'll learn about cataloguing and information management systems, maintaining a website, using digital and social media tools, and developing programs within a library setting. The electives you complete will depend on the institution you choose to study with.

Are there any entry requirements?

Typically, entrance to a Diploma of Library and Information Services is based on successful completion of Year 12 or completion of a Certificate IV in Library and Information Services. Some institutions may set their own requirements for entry, which could include meeting set literacy and numeracy standards.

Where will it lead me?

This course prepares you for a role as a Library Technician or Library Assistant in a range of settings including schools, TAFEs, universities, and public, state and national libraries. It's also a good starting point if you're looking at becoming a Librarian and would like some exposure to a career in library services.

How much will it cost?

The final cost of this course will depend on a number of factors including your personal circumstances, previous experience and unit selections.
