25 years since I graduated, and still utilise the skills that I gained. Wondering now whether I can do an add-on subject for board of directors membership?

The course is not good for someone who holds a Bachelors of Commerce. In some regards it was repetition

When i took the Deakin MBA course, i did so because i wanted to study remote, and i wanted to do so at a top 10 Australian business school. Deakin provided the best value-for-money course in this range. Overall the experience was great, and i learnt almost as much about myself as i did about business. It was a very enjoyable journey. I would say however, that one of the main benefits of an MBA is to build a reliable network that you continue to liaise with as you progress through your career. One of the challenges studying online is that it's much more difficult to enjoy this benefit. One of the residential units was also a waste of time/money, so it's important that you select wisely. I also didn't receive any assistance from the University upon completion to improve my career outcomes, which i think is something that could be improved for future graduates.

How Deakin's online courses are delivered

As an online student you’ll watch lectures, complete readings and participate in tutorials, just like an on-campus student.

The difference is you’ll do this online, when it suits you.

Deakin was one of the first universities in Australia to deliver courses for off-campus students,

and they pride themselves on an online learning system that is cutting-edge, engaging and easy to use.

Through their platform CloudDeakin, you’ll:

  • Access almost all your learning resources
  • Watch the same lectures that are delivered on-campus, and
  • Interact with your tutors (you'll have one dedicated tutor for each unit)

You’ll also be involved in conversations with other students and your tutors through virtual classrooms and discussion boards.

Support services for online students

You can access the same support services as on-campus students – either via Deakin’s website, over the phone, on Skype,

or in person if you are near a Deakin campus.

Specialist online advisers can help you develop successful study skills, discuss your course direction and provide career guidance.

You can also access:

  • Online library support
  • Counselling
  • Financial assistance
  • Medical services and more

The online orientation at the start of your course will introduce you to helpful resources.
