SEEK Advertised Salary Index - December

The SEEK Advertised Salary Index (ASI) measures the growth in advertised salaries for jobs posted on SEEK in Australia. This report provides a snapshot of the monthly data. The next quarterly SEEK ASI report will be released in February and will contain industry and state trends.

NATIONAL ADVERTISED SALARY TRENDS

• Advertised salaries increased 0.3% m/m in December. Monthly growth throughout 2025 was particularly steady, hovering around 0.3% with less than 0.15 percentage points separating the highest and lowest growth rates. This made 2025 the most stable year for monthly advertised salary growth
  since the series began.
• Annual advertised salary growth accelerated over the second half of 2025, from 3.4% y/y in July to 3.8% y/y in December.

SEEK Senior Economist, Dr Blair Chapman says:

“Advertised salary growth was remarkably consistent in 2025. Increases of around 0.3% each month over the second half of the year was enough to see the annual rate of growth reach 3.8% in December, the fastest annual growth since September 2024.

"Despite faster growth in advertised salaries, many households likely felt a cost-of-living squeeze in the second half of 2025. Consumer prices also accelerated over this period, with annual inflation rising from 1.9% in July to 3.4% in November."
