What's it like to be a Parts Interpreter?
Parts Interpreters (often referred to as Automotive or Spare Parts Interpreters) usually work in motor accessory dealerships, large car dealerships and motor wreckers, where they talk with customers to assess their needs, then recommend and sell them the appropriate parts.
Tasks and duties
- Identify the make, model and variation of motor vehicles and automotive equipment.
- Identify and source required parts.
- Process payments and discounts for parts.
- Collect, pack and dispatch parts.
- Check, value and catalogue parts.
- Assist in the repair and replacement of parts.
How to become a Parts Interpreter
Parts Interpreters are generally expected to have completed an apprenticeship or traineeship and gained a vocational qualification such as a Certificate III in Automotive Sales (AUR31016).
- 1.Find an Apprenticeship Network provider or Group Training Organisation in your area to help you find a host employer and begin your apprenticeship.
- 2.Complete the Certificate III in Automotive Sales (AUR31016), which provides training in identifying and matching automotive parts, selecting and supplying automotive parts and stock control.
