Despite a rigorous interview process, the work environment is toxic, with poor management, lack of growth opportunities, and a culture that leaves employees feeling unsupported and undervalued.
The good thingsAdvice to Management: Be transparent with prospective employees about the actual scope of work and available opportunities. Misleading new hires about project availability and career growth not only damages trust but also contributes to high turnover and dissatisfaction.
The challengesEnv is isolating with poor onboarding, micromgmt, no room for open communication. Long-term employees are unwelcoming, making it difficult for new hires to settle in. New hires are misled about project availability, especially in Perth. constant pressure, no meaningful work, low compensation

Employee turnover was massive. Both people leaving and people being pushed out the door. Your entire mind is consumed by thoughts of your role 24/7 because of the communication apps they insist you install on your phone day one. Day 1 is a slogan there. Every day is day 1. It's right because every day you feel as unsure about your role and your job security within the company as Day 1. If you ever challenge the status quo or the managers, you will very quickly develop an in-depth understanding of the definition and mechanisms of gaslighting. Unionize? Hah. Don't say the U word on their systems.
The good thingsPay is good for the expertise required to fulfil the basic task of replacing parts.
The challengesManagers. They either were ignorant of Australian worker protection laws (except for diversity inclusion), or didn't care. Certainly A top down affect. Very little guidance from managers and senior techs. The type of people who work Data Centres have very low social skills (who then turn manager)

Not as great as it seems
The good thingsRenumeration package along with stocks and signing bonus is excellent compared to other companies in Australian market.
The challengesVery toxic work environment - very bad for mental health and ultimately takes toll on physical wellbeing as well. Not an ideal workplace for engineers with families.

Overall I am very disappointed for having taken up this opportunity and trying to leave asap.
The good thingsthe company name and its reputation
The challengesThe worst part of the whole process was the interview which lasted 6 months. I had to follow up endlessly and it appeared the HR staff were on contract as there was very little empathy for applicants.

To be avoid working for AWS if you want to work for living and not the other way
The good thingsPerks, Salary, brand, training
The challengesWork life balance is the key challenges, managers think very highly of themselves as they believe to be above 95% of the global population in many fields ( in some cases not even there field of expertise ) and look down to people to the point of insolence.

Don't kill the culture with micro-management, please!
The good thingsA chance to work on the cutting edge technology. Smart and helpful team mates.
The challengesBureaucratic and frustrating at times. Lately, micro-management is becoming dominant vs autonomy. Some silly arguments such as \"No, you cannot be that good at this service, you have only worked for 6 months on it.\" can be demotivating.
