    Looks good from the outside…
The good thingsThe staff were welcoming and the facility was a lovely environment to engage in client work - lovely gardens. Most front line staff are great people and do amazing work for NQ communities. Has a lot of programs so able to learn a lot across the different teams and give clients holistic care e.g. able to work on 2 different things at once such as parenting program and accessing counselling.
The challengesHuge turn over of staff resulting in new graduates social workers being employed to fill roles but are not supported by upper management and struggling. Lots of toxic behaviour at senior management level that is wrapped up in fake team building through “nice” morning teas. New ideas scare them and keep doing the same old approaches. As social workers, we can endure a lot of trauma in client work if we feel safe and supported back in office.. Centacare NQ was not that environment. Lots of micromanaging.

There is a genuine desire by all to help the most vulnerable in our community.
The good thingsAll team members are united in their collective vision to help our community. I experienced a level of warmth and connection as soon I commenced
The challengesGrowth had meant a level of discomfort as team members adjust to the changing structure as Centacare continues to evolve. Overall a wonderful place to work with caring experienced front line staff genuinely wanting to contribute to client outcomes.
