What’s it like working at Comcare?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Comcare appreciate the meaningful and rewarding nature of the work, as well as the supportive team culture. The organisation offers good work-life balance, opportunities for learning and development, mobility within the agency, and competitive pay for the Australian Public Service.

However, some potential areas for improvement include the initial challenge of navigating processes and terminology within the public service, the unsettling impact of significant organisational changes in recent years, high workload pressures in certain roles like managing injured workers, and concerns around certain management approaches not being as open or supportive as desired.

A new challenge, exactly what I was looking for.
The good thingsThe work is meaningful, challenging and rewarding. There has been a lot to learn moving from the Private Sector to the Public, and it has been a really great journey. The team is wonderful, a great culture and everyone makes time to assist.
The challengesLearning to navigate the APS was probably the biggest challenge. Learning the correct terms, legislation, acronyms, ways of working, how everything fits together, reporting structures etc. but I am 5 months in and feel much more confident.

A great agency to work for, very happy.
The good thingsVery supportive for work/life balance and flexibility. Very understanding of parent/caring responsibilities and the challenges that come with that. Great team environment. Lots of opportunities for learning and development. Lots of opportunities for mobility within the agency. The pay at each level is high for the APS. Continuous support for people especially who are in difficult or sensitive roles. You are encouraged to share your ideas.
The challengesWe have had lots of change in the last few years, so the agency and leadership team has been working through that. Some new strategies have been developed to improve lots of areas, there will be lots of projects and initiatives to achieve those goals, and it will require dedication, support for employees and commitment at all levels.

Good Government Agency to work in.
The good thingsGreat place to work. You are given the tools (systems, policies and procedures) to do your work and support injured workers.
The challengesManaging injured workers can be stressful (workload) and burnout was not uncommon.
