Community Living has celebrated over 25 years of success in supporting people with intellectual disabilities to live their dreams through community connections. Since its inception in 1989, Community Living has persistently sought innovative and diverse ways to respond to the individual needs of people with intellectual disabilities (including people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, multiple disabilities, high & complex behaviours and offending histories) within their communities in the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Taranaki and greater Midland region.Based in Hamilton, Community Living and its partners now support more than 700 individuals of all ages.We support 140 people, 24 hours per day, 365 days of the year in individual homes and flats. Community Living owns 39 houses and units and we rent some 35 - 40 flats from both Community Housing and private landlords, depending on needs.We help around 130 whanau/families who have a family member with a disability living at home with them and have a range of supports including respite services to assist them.We support 100 people to obtain real meaningful work or to gain the skills to enable them to get a job.Source: This is an extract from the company's own website.
