Interesting organisation with a lot of promise, but there is a lack of clarity in roles and functions and support from management
The good thingsGreat shared vision, really nice peers, lots of celebratory events and great office facilities.
The challengesProcesses for the sake of processes that slow things down. No one is interested in changes or improvements. Leadership is out of touch and many have no interest in understanding the people under them and many that are not suitable for their role. HR are not very supportive and appear to only focus pn protecting the business rather than employees.

Too much red tape, lack of efficiency and sense of entitlement from employees
The good thingsGreat salary, paid fairly and where I see my value. Great support from my line manager and colleagues in my department. Working for an organisation that is trying to secure our future through ensuring we look after the environment.
The challengesWay too much bureaucracy (even for the public sector) and processes just for the sake of processes, it feels like some people do not wish to let go of processes as they are more worried about losing their job than being efficient. Too many people with a sense of entitlement, and too many long term employees, which creates a lack of creativity and fresh ideas. Career employees who will work their until they retire (or longer in some cases).

    An experience..
The good thingsFront line staff are driven to protect the environment, which drives a strong and healthy peer culture
The challengesI really care about the environment and am highly motivated to strive for the goals EPA sets itself out to achieve, but I won't go back. The organisation banks on the passion of staff, so many are unpaid (compared to equivalent roles elsewhere) and the workload is crazy. They're happy to print off certificate of appreciation, but it doesn't translate into progression or opportunities.
