Ruthless - watch your back and join the union.
The good thingsColleagues; salary when they chose to pay me; reading things from the collection back in the old days, before they threw out all of the good stuff and filled the libraries with James Patterson and similar garbage.
The challengesClaiming to be a values-driven organisation is a bit rich after the way GRLC treated their staff during the pandemic. I would strongly advise anyone who is considering working here, to google 'geelong library staff strike' first and learn about the disgraceful behaviour of senior management. They put me through months of emotional and financial distress, during a global pandemic, and at a time when my husband had just been diagnosed with cancer. They didn't care. I had worked for them for 9 years. Do you want to work for an organisation like that?

High salary does not necessarily equate to a high satisfying working environment.
The good thingsColleagues, customers and location.
The challengesMicro-management; lots of management but lacking understanding of what leadership means. Career advancement only for those who have multiple degrees and who are willing to compromise personal integrity. One needs to ensure that they do not disagree with the CEO on any matter.
