Since 1971 when David & Cathy Harris opened their first store in Villawood, we've believed in something greater than just selling fresh food. We’ve believed in nature itself. The land, the sea, the air, the elements. It’s a remarkable thing. It brings families together, supports communities, and gives farmers a means. It offers nutrients to our bodies, and joy to our taste buds.At Harris Farm Markets, we don’t just respect it, we’re driven by it. Our prices, our produce, our specials– all determined by nature. It enriches everyone and everything.Which is exactly why we’re doing our best to make it all it can be. From sustainable initiatives like Imperfect Picks, to showing love for local farmers and producers, we believe that all our actions can make a real, positive difference.Source: This is an extract from the company's own website.

“Valuable experience in fast-paced retail and customer service.”
The good thingsWorking at Harris Farm Markets, I’ve really enjoyed the fast-paced and dynamic environment where every day brings something new. I appreciate the focus on fresh produce and quality products—it’s rewarding to help customers select healthy, seasonal items and see them leave happy with their purchases. I’ve also enjoyed the teamwork aspect; collaborating with colleagues to keep the store organized, stocked, and running smoothly has helped me develop communication and problem-solving skills. Additionally, I value the opportunity to engage directly with customers, providing advice on produce, answering questions, and creating a positive shopping experience. The emphasis on sustainability and supporting local farmers is something I resonate with personally, and it’s satisfying to be part of a business that values community and quality. Overall, I’ve enjoyed the balance of customer interaction, hands-on work, and being part of a team that strives for excellence in fresh food retail.
The challengesWhile working at Harris Farm Markets, one area that could be improved is the efficiency of stock management during peak hours. At times, high customer traffic can make it challenging to keep shelves fully stocked and maintain a smooth workflow. Streamlining the inventory restocking process or adding more support during busy periods could enhance overall efficiency. Another potential improvement is in training for new staff. Providing more structured onboarding or refresher sessions could help team members quickly become confident in product knowledge, customer service, and store procedures, which would benefit both staff and customers. Finally, introducing more digital tools for inventory tracking or customer service could help reduce manual tasks and allow staff to focus more on engaging with customers and maintaining store presentation.

I am so much happier I left
The good thingsThe only good thing is the 25% off and the some staff you work with
The challengesThe nepotism from management doesn’t really help with staff morale. I’m forced to do other departments work while they do essentially nothing and get paid. The same circle of leaders get recognition and I get blamed for issues that are easily solvable in store. Everyone’s blaming each other and there’s too much unnecessary drama in the store making it so toxic and fake. It almost feels discriminative
