What’s it like working at Marathon Health?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Marathon Health appreciate the supportive and positive workplace culture, with friendly colleagues and approachable leadership. The organisation excels in providing professional development opportunities, including dedicated budgets, in-house clinical training, and mentoring. Staff value the flexibility and work/life balance, along with the ability to manage their own schedules and work from home when needed. The work is described as rewarding and meaningful, with a genuine focus on making a positive difference in communities. Manageable KPIs allow staff to prioritise quality client care, and benefits such as salary packaging and paid leave between Christmas and New Year are well-regarded.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. Management approaches can vary across different teams and locations, with experiences ranging from highly supportive to less consistent. Some staff have observed that workplace culture can differ between teams, with occasional instances of cliques or favouritism in certain areas. Pay increases are capped at 2.5% per year, which may not always align with cost-of-living adjustments. Additionally, IT systems and applications can occasionally be slow or require improvement, and there have been periods of staff turnover in certain teams that require adjustment.

Initially shining but dulled quickly with new management trying to prove themselves at the detrimen
    The good thingsSome good colleagues
The challengesManagers that state they are about supporting staff yet are the opposite in reality. Offer 5 weeks leave but no leave loading so in reality you only get a couple of days extra. A look of talk about great culture until the rubber meets the road.

Fair pay for a fair day's work. Great team culture. Flexibility and autonomy. Room to build a career
The good thingsCareer progression opportunities. Professional development prioritised. Working in rural contexts and supported to complete outreach despite disability sector changes and travel restrictions. Modest KPI that is achievable with a focus on delivering quality client services rather than generating profits (we are a not-for-profit organisation). Treated like an adult, not micromanaged. Able to manage own caseload with autonomy and admin and management support constantly available when needed, rather than having excessive meetings. I have been afforded so much flexibility in this role to manage the demands of my work life, family life and even continuing university studies. I don't think I could achieve this balance anywhere else. Working full-time while completing a degree part-time is so rewarding and doable due to study leave and low minimum KPIs. Study allowance is paying for my degree too! Great team culture working across multiple sites across country NSW, but still feel connected.
The challengesThe usual suspects. Pay increases that are aligned with cost-of-living increases would be great (currently capped at 2.5% per year). Contracts aligned with SCAHDS award would be better than having an enterprise agreement in my opinion. Maybe commission structures for employee incentives. Someone who achieves 25 hours of billable work per week would make the same as someone who achieves 21 hours of billable work per week. Hard to think of challenges; there are so few. This is a truly great place to work. :)

Supportive team, meaningful work, and strong culture made it a truly rewarding experience.
The good thingsWorking at Marathon Health has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The organisation genuinely prioritises staff wellbeing and professional development, which creates a supportive and empowering workplace culture. I’ve enjoyed being part of a passionate team that’s committed to making a real difference in the lives of young people and the broader community. The leadership is approachable and values input from all levels, and there’s a strong sense of collaboration across teams. The flexibility, trust, and encouragement to grow in your role make it a great place to work.
The challengesLike any dynamic and growing organisation, Marathon Health faces its share of challenges. However, the team has consistently been transparent and supportive at every juncture, which has helped ease pressures during peak periods and fostered a strong sense of resilience and collaboration.
