UNIQLO stems from the words ‘unique’ and ‘clothing’ – simple and clever, just like our clothes. Our philosophy is based on the premise of Life Wear: apparel that comes from the Japanese values of simplicity, quality and longevity. Life Wear is clothing that is constantly being innovated, bringing more warmth, more lightness, better design, and better comfort to people’s lives.Today the company has more than 2,400 stores around the world, Australia stands as a key market for UNIQLO in establishing its brand in the Asia and Oceania region and remains focused on continuing its growth. UNIQLO opened the first store in Melbourne, in April 2014, and as of today has expanded to 40 stores.

What’s it like working at Uniqlo?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Uniqlo offers a notably supportive team environment where colleagues help each other and form meaningful connections. The company provides comprehensive training and development opportunities, with clear pathways for career advancement for those who demonstrate strong performance. Employees particularly value the 30% staff discount and appreciate the structured approach to career progression.

However, the work environment can be demanding with its fast-paced nature, especially during peak seasons. Employees need to adapt to high performance standards and strict operational procedures. The experience can vary depending on store management, and maintaining work-life balance can be challenging, particularly for those in leadership roles who often need to manage additional responsibilities.

A great place to work for the proactive
The good thingsLeaders are very supportive within the work environment and always willing to help.
The challengesAs there are many team members, its not always possible for the leaders to get around to following up with and getting to know each one. sometimes if the employees don't speak up, its easy to slip through the cracks and feel a bit underappreciated or neglected.

Better than most of the jobs I have worked, but the most ideal option out there.
The good thingsThe people that work at my store were some of the most welcoming people I've ever met. Uniqlo also does one of the best jobs recognising their high performing staff, offering opportunities such as workshops and support at interstate stores for these select staff.
The challengesHonestly, the working culture is very tough to deal with most of the time. The jobs that seem simple are made more challenging due to the extreme standards they place, not only on staff but managers, and that trickles down the line. Then employees have a more difficult time on the customer service section trying to accomodate to those standards, which in turn, effects everything top-down again. Sometimes the pay doesn't seem worth the effort I put in, however the instinsic motivation they instill is quite powerful.
