"yourtown is a charity with services young people can access to find jobs, learn skills, become great parents and live safer, happier lives. We believe every young person has the right to a brighter future.Since 1961, we've been tackling the issues impacting young people in Australia - like mental health and unemployment, and taking on issues like family and domestic violence. We aim to be part of the solution by delivering services that get results, and we offer these at a local and national level. They include Kids Helpline, training and employment services for young people, parent education and family refuges. With our work predominately funded by the community, it's together and by association that we give young people choices."Tracy Adams, CEOSource: This is an extract from the company's own website.

The organisation is praised for its supportive team environment, excellent training and professional development opportunities, and commitment to maintaining a diverse and inclusive workplace culture.

If you want a safe workplace, this is not it. STAY AWAY.
The good thingsSome of the other counsellors were decent human beings. The actual work itself is amazing, and very rewarding.
The challengesManagement and team leaders are incredibly out of touch with how to actually manage teams. They are unsupportive, some even go as far as to sabotage their team members purposefully and maliciously to get ahead. While there are a couple who are actually great at their job unfortunately this is often overshadowed by the louder toxic ones. They have no care for their employees wellbeing whatsoever.
Talent PartnerThank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear this was how your time with us felt. We’re glad you found the work meaningful and connected with colleagues who cared. Supporting children and young people is rewarding but also demanding work, and feeling supported matters. We take feedback about leadership, culture and wellbeing seriously. What you’ve described doesn’t reflect the workplace we strive to create, and we don’t dismiss feedback like this. If you’re open to it, we would welcome a confidential conversation to better understand your experience and learn from it. Our People & Culture team can be contacted via [email protected]. We wish you all the best moving forward.
