The course was full of useful information and topics, and I loved that it was assignment based instead of exams. The hands on prac work was really good to give you an understanding of exactly what it would be like to work as an early childhood educator.

Covers the necessary theory in a mainly interesting way, but the best aspect of the course was the term-long internship. Here you will learn more than any other unit and prepare for actually being a teacher. More assistance could be given in finding placement schools, but if you are self-motivated and dedicated this is an excellent teaching degree.

Hard to study as there was barely any practical work to apply to.

Studing online allowed me to balance work, personal life and study. I was supported when my mother became ill and passed away. When I felt alone I could get on to Blackboard and other students supported you with study ideas, advice on how to look at questions in a different light and the lecturers were also helpfully, giving advice to the whole blackboard community or emailing privatily if needed. I felt that the course was geared more to school age teaching than under 5s if the unit was for all ages. Lecturers didn't have enough understanding of the education system of all states which made it difficult. The program planning units were not relevent to all states, this came up many times in many units on blackboard. Another down side was that we were not allowed to experience 4 year kindergarten in Vicotria as most of our kindergartens are not part of the education system as they are either privatley or council run and not complusory, yet our course was for 0-8 year olds.

Good amount of teaching practice and good range of schools for placements. Best tutorials teachers were those who also worked part time in actual schools. Some teachers/units were a waste of time. Work load is not too heavy.

Poor approach to finding a job for the following year. Assistance with being prepared to apply for roles was left too late. Very poor online learning unit in second semester. Those points aside, it was a good experience.

Satisfied with course layout especially with online content and accessibility. Tutors are good but some are better than others offering more guidance.

I thought the course was wonderful and I did learn a lot. My issue was that I struggled with the online format. I could not manage my time well and I could not complete my studies.

I wouldn’t recommend this course over a brick and mortar university unless you have no other options. I studied other subjects through a different online university and had an excellent experience. The experience with Curtin didn’t mesh well with my learning style.

The reading materials were easy to follow and teacher support was great. Studying by distance mode was made easy and relevant to my workplace
