I thoroughly enjoyed the content and was inspired by my lecturers, particularly those in the Nutrition and Chemistry teams. When I sought help on any topic most lecturers would be more than happy to spend a good amount of time explaining things.

Student review
This bachelor course was a good foundation of learning. Further study is recommended in order to succeed in a path in the health industry. Like any school, you will come across good and bad lecturers/tutors. You must turn up, and put in the time and work to do well. Deakin Burwood is a fantastic campus, with all amenities available to a range of needs. However, would I go back in time and go to University again? No I would not.

Support and delivery

How Deakin's online courses are delivered

As an online student you’ll watch lectures, complete readings and participate in tutorials, just like an on-campus student. The difference is you’ll do this online, when it suits you.

Deakin was one of the first universities in Australia to deliver courses for off-campus students, and they pride themselves on an online learning system that is cutting-edge, engaging and easy to use.

Through their platform CloudDeakin, you’ll:

  • Access almost all your learning resources
  • Watch the same lectures that are delivered on-campus, and
  • Interact with your tutors (you'll have one dedicated tutor for each unit).

You’ll also be involved in conversations with other students and your tutors through virtual classrooms and discussion boards.

Support services for online students

You can access the same support services as on-campus students – either via Deakin’s website, over the phone, on Skype, or in person if you are near a Deakin campus.

Specialist online advisers can help you develop successful study skills, discuss your course direction and provide career guidance.

You can also access:

  • Online library support
  • Counselling
  • Financial assistance
  • Medical services and more

The online orientation at the start of your course will introduce you to helpful resources.
