The course itself was great, placement was wonderful, trying to actually find a job as a newly registered EEN....pitiful! NO ONE will take you unless you manage to secure one of very few offered scholarships or graduate program places offered to the hundreds graduating at the same time in SEQ. Aged Care won't take you as you have to have experience, generally most employ RN's as they do not require supervision. Hospitals won't take you without at least 6-12 months in an acute setting. Agencies won't take you unless you have 12-24mths of experience. So how does anyone get experience as a newly registered EEN when no one is prepared to offer you the opportunity to gain experience ?? It has left me with little if any desire to pursue nursing. I truly wish I had known how incredibly difficult it was, I would never gone into debt with HECS fees!
